In the presence of Hélène Mandroux, doctor of medicine and mayor of Montpellier between 2004 and 2014, the third Lab Santé Midi Libre of the year began with a muscle awakening to the sound of the famous rock group AC/DC before continuing with three round tables, the second of which discussed the subject of health prevention for women.
With 40 years of experience, Dr. Christine Kerr, health prevention and promotion delegate and the League against Cancer at the Hérault Departmental Council, notes a change in the approach to prevention: “We are making prevention seem less old-fashioned. We are trying to develop everyone's skills to adhere to the health program. And, a fundamental point is the possibility of consulting midwives for screening procedures, in particular.”

Doctor Barbara Maraux, obstetrician-gynecologist at the Clémentville clinic, spoke about preventing depression in women: “Depression has an impact on mental health and on the way in which events in a woman's life are experienced. Epidemiology and sociology allow us to better understand health and better support patients.”
He was also the subject of breast cancer, the leading female cancer with 60,000 new cases and 12,000 deaths per year. “We need to detect earlier and more massively,” insists Dr. Muriel Viala-Trentini, radiologist and head of the imaging department at the Beau Soleil clinic in Montpellier. “Only one in two women are screened between the ages of 50 and 74. In 9 out of 10 cases, there is a cure, except that today, making an appointment for a mammogram is Koh-Lanta.”

We need to be able to reach out to them by working with the local associative network.”
