A drama of climbing

#HERAULT –A terrible climbing accident occurred on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Cirque du bout du monde site in Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. While climbing with another person, a climber in his fifties fell about thirty meters from the cliff. His partner alerted the emergency services around 1:30 p.m. The man was dead when the Grimp firefighters arrived. The Civil Security Dragon 34 helicopter was dispatched to the scene, which is very difficult to access. The other climber was taken care of by the emergency services, in a state of shock. An investigation has been opened.

The Laguiole resort finally opens its doors to skiers!

#AVEYRON –Better late than never! After several weeks of negotiations to find an operator, the Laguiole ski resort is getting back up and running this Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Indeed, two problems remained: the lack of snow, and the waiting time before obtaining administrative and safety authorizations to operate the ski lifts. If the snow cover is not yet worthy of the name, the precious administrative sesame has just been obtained. “The cold spell of the last few days allows us to offer you three green slopes” , indicates the ski resort on its social networks. The toboggan run is also open, as are the snowshoe trails, marked and freely accessible.

The Gard MP slips

#ALES – “Support for Yvanne (sic) Trippenbach. I'm joking. Let go. “He who lives by the sword will perish by the sword.” Monday, January 13, 2025, Alexandre Allegret-Pilot, UDR MP for Gard (Eric Ciotti's party, ally of the RN) wrote these lines on X targeting Ivanne Trippenbach, a reporter at Le Monde. The journalist from Le Monde is currently the target of cyber-harassment by far-right supporters, accusing her of having forced her way in to disrupt Jean-Marie Le Pen's funeral. She is also one of the reporters who, in 2024, revealed suspicious actions by the Gard MP: a loan of €1.3 million granted to a phantom company when he was a senior civil servant at Bercy. For his part, Alexandre Allegret-Pilot refutes “any call for violence or harassment”.

Dead animals poisoned

#HERAULT –At least three animals have been found dead from poisoning in the space of a few days, in the town of Gigean, in Hérault, since Wednesday, January 8. Two horses, a dog and several wild boars died after swallowing what appear to be pieces of strangely colored bread, on land adjoining the Embosque business park in Gigean. “I learned on Friday that a dog had died very quickly after eating bread that he had found during his walk, explained Mayor Marcel Stoecklin. Already, on Wednesday evening or Thursday, two horses had died in the same circumstances.” The two equines belonged to the same owner. “The owner is very shocked,” continued the mayor. What happened is shameful, unspeakable.” Marcel Stoecklin calls for the greatest vigilance when walking their pets. An investigation is open to determine what type of poison was used.
