Lenovo is taking advantage of CES in Las Vegas to stock up on new products. And among the products it unveiled at the show, there is the IdeaCentre Mini x, a new compact PC that is positioned as a direct competitor to Apple's Mac mini. It is important to note that Lenovo already sells mini-PCs. However, IdeaCentre Mini x is the very first product in this category to use Qualcomm processors instead of Intel's.

The first mini-PC with a Snapdragon X chip

This is significant because, thanks to an Arm architecture and its Oryon technology, Qualcomm has managed to develop chips for Windows PCs that challenge Apple chips in terms of performance, energy efficiency and computing power for artificial intelligence. Lenovo offers three options for the processor: the Snapdragon X Plus, the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core and the Snapdragon X (a mid-range PC processor that Qualcomm has just unveiled). In any case, this mini PC will be equipped with a 45 TOPS NPU for AI, which allows it to support Windows 11 Copilot+ features on Arm machines.

A real competitor to the Mac mini

In summary, Lenovo positions this machine as a productivity tool that, thanks to its compact format, adapts to all spaces. For connectivity, it supports Wifi 7. On the front, the IdeaCentre Mini x has a USB-A port, a USB-C port, a headphone jack, as well as the power button (which is positioned in the right place). Otherwise, Lenovo also highlights the design of the IdeaCentre Mini x which makes it easier to replace components. According to our colleagues at The Verge, the starting price in the United States would be $659.99.

  • Lenovo is full of new products at CES in Las Vegas and unveils the IdeaCentre Mini x
  • This mini PC is positioned as a direct competitor to the Mac mini, thanks to its compact format and its Snapdragon X series chip
  • This chip allows the IdeaCentre Mini x to have good performance, as well as significant computing power for AI
  • The IdeaCentre Mini x is a Copilot+ device and is therefore compatible with the latest Windows AI features
