Ligue 1: OM wins and overtakes PSG, the ranking of the 1st day

Marseille took the lead in Ligue 1 after Saturday's matches thanks to their 5-1 win over Brest. OM moved ahead of PSG, winners over Le Havre on Friday (4-1) while Monaco won against Saint-Etienne (1-0).

OM struck hard on Saturday, August 17, during the first day of Ligue 1 2024-2025. The day after PSG's big win in Le Havre (4-1), Marseille largely brushed aside Brest away (5-1), during a match marked by a penalty save by its new goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, a double from its new striker Mason Greenwood and a penalty goal from its other offensive recruit Elye Wahi. The rest of the Ligue 1 match was marked by the long interruption of the Reims-Lille match following the terrible shock suffered on the pitch by the Dogue Angel Gomes.
