Ligue 1 resumes its rights this weekend, with a 4th day which is already shaping up to be critical for several teams. Program, results, ranking…
After a short international break marked by the Nations League matches, Ligue 1 resumes its rights with a 4th day already rich in stakes. While PSG is alone at the top of the ranking after three victories in three matches, several renowned clubs will try to catch up in the ranking. The first big shock of this day was scheduled for this Saturday, September 14, at the Vélodrome, between Olympique de Marseille and OGC Nice, after the opening match this Friday between Saint-Etienne and Lille.
In Ligue 1, Marseille are undefeated at this stage and are lurking behind PSG, with 7 points from three games. Their new star striker, Englishman Mason Greenwood, is currently the league's top scorer with five goals. To hope to temporarily move into first place, Marseille will absolutely have to win, while counting on PSG making a mistake against Brest. Opposite, Nice, currently 8th with 4 points, will try to play spoilsport in a derby that promises to be high-tension.
PSG: maintain the lead in the standings before Europe
For its part, Paris Saint-Germain is approaching this weekend with the firm intention of maintaining its leadership status. After three consecutive victories, the Parisians are preparing to face Brest, runner-up last season and confident after inflicting a heavy defeat (4-0) on AS Saint-Étienne on Matchday 3. This match is of particular importance for Luis Enrique's men, before starting their Champions League campaign, with a first match against Girona in a few days.
Deprived of Kylian Mbappé, PSG will once again have to count on the performances of Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha to overcome the Bretons. The kick-off for this match will also take place this Saturday, September 14 at 9 p.m.
Lens – Lyon: a duel under pressure
The last match of this 4th day will be between RC Lens and Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday evening. Both clubs are in the race for European places and are hoping to secure a podium finish. Lens, who are having an excellent start to the season, will be keen to confirm their status as outsiders, while Lyon, led by Alexandre Lacazette but struggling, will be looking to collect valuable points after a mixed start to the championship.
Other Ligue 1 matches to watch
In addition to the three major games of this 4th day, several other matches also deserve attention. On Friday, September 13, LOSC Lille will travel to AS Saint-Étienne. After a stinging defeat against Brest, the Greens will try to bounce back against a Lille team that also needs points to stay in the top half of the table.

On Saturday, September 14, AS Monaco, still undefeated this season, will travel to Auxerre in a match that could allow the Monegasques to get closer to the podium. A victory against AJA would send a strong signal to their direct competitors. Like PSG and OM, Monaco will have to manage its squads with caution in view of upcoming meetings on the continental stage.
On Sunday, several other matches will be played simultaneously at 5pm. Among them, the confrontation between FC Nantes and Stade de Reims promises a balanced duel between two ambitious teams. At the same time, Strasbourg will host Angers, while Toulouse will face Le Havre. Finally, Rennes, who alternates between promising successes and missteps, will host Montpellier to try to get back on track.

16:50 – Saint-Etienne – Lille, first shock of the 4th day
Saint-Etienne hosts Lille this Friday in what will be the first big clash of the 4th day of Ligue 1 McDonald's. After a rise to Ligue 1 validated during the play-offs, the Greens have had a difficult start to the season, with three consecutive defeats. Without any points in the championship, AS Saint-Etienne finds itself in last place in the standings. The Stéphanois have had a series of poor performances: a narrow defeat at Monaco (1-0), a new fall at home against Le Havre (0-2) and a heavy correction inflicted by Brest (4-0) before the international break.
For their part, Lille are in much better shape. LOSC, currently sixth in the championship, started the season in a solid way with two victories against Reims (0-2) and Angers (2-0). Their only defeat in the championship came against a superior PSG (1-3) on the third day. At the same time, the Dogues were able to stand out in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, eliminating Fenerbahçe and Slavia Prague in quick succession.
