Alors que l’année 2025 se rapproche à grand pas, de nombreuses personnes se demandent si la neige sera au rendez-vous pour Noël. On fait le point sur les prévisions pour la fin d’année.

The weather has been changing constantly in recent weeks. Between mild weather and cold snaps, snow and storm Darragh, unstable weather has marked the fall. Although winter does not begin until December 21, current temperatures seem to be seasonal as the end-of-year holidays approach.

A mild month of December

Between December 9 and 15, temperatures are expected to drop further in the coming days. Several degrees below seasonal norms, “cold and unpleasant” weather is expected in France, according to the Weather Channel. Showers are expected to hit the east of the country, while in the Mediterranean, “a cold drop could play spoilsport with instability in Corsica and the far south-east, where the situation will need to be monitored”.

The week before Christmas should be marked by some snowfall, but only in the high mountains (1,600 to 2,000 m). Although the weather will remain rather wet over most of the country, showers should be less numerous near the Mediterranean basin.

While many are waiting to spend Christmas under the snow, we will most certainly have to wait until next year. Indeed, mild weather should gradually return during the week of December 23 to 29. “There will be a lot of fog or mist during the morning in the north, with sometimes difficult dissipation during the day. In the south, the days will be quite nice with the return of mild weather, which will melt the snow in the mountains at low and medium altitudes.”

For the new year, there too, the festivities should be mild. “Temperatures could be above seasonal norms, which is not good news for snow in the mountains,” the site says. However, “this trend being distant, the reliability will remain to be refined”, the weather station specifies.
