On Tuesday, September 3, there will be French athletes in the final: Arnaud Assoumani will be present in the long jump (T47), as will Valentin Bertrand (T37). In the shot put (T37), Luka Meissonnier is also aiming for a medal. In the 400 m, in T20 and T37 respectively, Charles-Antoine Kouakou and Laura Ustaritz are also in the final. Our Tricolores set the country and Paris 2024 alight with the titles of Lucas Mazur (para badminton, SL4), Charles Noakes (para badminton, SH6), Aurélie Aubert (boccia, BC1), Jules Ribstein (para triathlon, PTS2) and Alexis Hanquinquant (para triathlon, PTS4). In doubles with Mazur, Faustine Noë (SL3-SU5) won bronze. Thibaut Rigaudeau and Antoine Perel, in para triathlon (PTS4), won silver and bronze. A magnificent and unforgettable day!

On France 2, the Paralympic champion confided: “I'm lost. I don't know what to say. I'm so happy, it was just beautiful to play in such an atmosphere. It's one of the best days of my life. It's a long-term job, thousands of hours of training. I had wonderful people around me, so that I could succeed. It's priceless. I'm moved, I'm happy… I don't know what to say!”
Hardly beaten in the first set, the Frenchman then completely unrolled against Coombs in the para badminton final, SH6 category (21/19, 21/13). This is the eleventh gold medal for the French delegation, the fifth of the day!

The objective for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records, as for the Olympic Games. "The goal is mainly gold medals, because that's what counts most in the ranking of nations," recalls Marie-Amélie Le Fur. "[…] I was asked if this wasn't a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so much lost in performance, we've come a long way. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition,'' said Marie-Amélie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
