It's a very prolific day for the tricolor delegation which chain medals of all colors.

  • For this second day of the Paralympic Games, the highly anticipated Alexandre Láautá was crowned Paralympic champion in the individual pursuit by crushing the competition. In para shooting, Tanguy De la Forest, five-time world champion, won the silver medal. In para table tennis, the pair Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud won bronze while in para swimming, Hector Denayer won a beautiful silver medal in the 100m breaststroke.
  • In mixed doubles, Flora Vautier and Florian Merrien qualified for the semi-finals and secured an incredible medal on Saturday.

The pair of Clément Berthier and Esteban Herrault are close to a place in the semi-finals, which is however still far from being acquired. William Bayley and Martin Perry took the 3rd round.

French record, best time, second world performance of the year in 105:90, Hector Denayer dazzled the Parisian pools during his 100m breaststroke final. The Frenchman is now Paralympic vice-champion in the SB9 category. The Paralympic champion is none other than the Italian legend Stefano Raimondi who achieved a time of 1:05:28.

19:13 – A new medal in para swimming ?

It's time for the final for Hector Denayer who hopes to have a medal at the end of the 100m breaststroke final.

19:06 – Berthier and Herrault towards the last four ?

The French Clément Berthier and Esteban Herrault play against the British William Bayley and Martin Perry for a place in the semi-finals in doubles MD14.

19:04 – Les Bleus ahead of half-time

The French wheelchair basketball team went into the locker room with a two-point lead (41-39). 

18:58 – Guilhem Laget on the Chatrier

It's the last match of the evening on the central court at Roland-Garros. Guilhem Laget is facing the British Ben Bartram for his first match. 

18:51 –  Faycal Meguenni bows

Opposé &agrav; Mario Sayes, boccist Faycal Meguenni lost his match 5-2. 

Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud held on but the French were less strong than the Korean pair Yeongjin Jang and Sung Joo Park in this para table tennis semi-final. The French team still won a bronze medal, the sixth for the French team in these Paralympic Games and the first for table tennis.

18:37 – Aurélie Aubert off to a good start

Boccia champion Aurélie Aubert is leading in her individual BC1 match. She won 2-0 against her Spanish opponent Amagoia Arrieta. 

18:34 – The Lamirault – Michaud pair lose ground again

The third set is in favor of Yeongjin Jang and Sung Joo Park (11-6) in para table tennis.

18:33 – And it goes through for Gaëtan Menguy!

Without trembling, Gaëtan Menguy wins by a wide margin in his first round. He beats Malaysian Abu Samah Borhan 6-1, 6-2.

18:25 – It's not a done deal for the French

The French duo Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud have defeated bad against the Korean pair Yeongjin Jang and Sung Joo Park. It was a set all. The French came back to score in the second set which they won 11-9.

Angelica Bernal and Zuleinny Rodriguez Trujillo saved two match points to finally win 11-9 in the super tie-break. The Frenchçaises Ksenia Chasteau and Pauline Déroulède finally lose 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. 

18:15 – Les Bleus start their competition

The French wheelchair basketball team challenges Canada in Group A. 

18:13 – Faycal Meguenni in lice

In individual BC2, Faycal Meguenni faces Mario Sayes during the preliminary rounds of boccia. 

18:09 – A super tight tie-break

The two teams are neck and neck on the Philippe Chatrier court at Roland-Garros. There is tension on both sides on the court.

18:03 – Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud aim for a place in the final

Already assured of a medal, Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud will try to reach the final of the MD4 men's doubles. They are two victories away from winning gold. The match will start in a few seconds.

18:01 – The girls snatch the super tie-break

The Colombians  Angelica Bernal and Zuleinny Rodriguez Trujillo lose the second set to the French Ksenia Chasteau and Pauline Déroulède in this women's doubles wheelchair tennis match. The French will therefore play a super tie-break. The first team to arrive at 10 points will win. 

17:55 – Hector Denayer expected around 19:15

The swimming has started and in a little over an hour, para swimmer Hector Denayer will compete in the final of the men's 100m breaststroke SB9.

17:49 – Maud Lefort won the first round

In para badminton, Maud Lefort won the first set 21-9 at the expense of her Chinese opponent Qiu Xia Yang. 

17:45 – The French pair loses

In para table tennis, the Brazilians Luiz Filipe and Manara Claudio Massad came to end of the French doubles Mateo Boheas, Thomas Bouvais in the quarter-final in four sets: 5-11, 11.6 11-7, 11-8. 

17:36 – Les Bleus led 2 sets to 1

The French para table tennis players engaged in the fourth round.

17:20 – No medal for Sophie Caverzan

In a very close fight, the Frenchwoman loses two points to one and will not be a medalist.

The goal for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records, as for the Olympic Games.  "The goal is mainly gold medals, because that's what counts most in the ranking of nations," recalls Marie-Amélie Le Fur. "[…] I was asked if this wasn't a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so much lost in performance, we've come a long way. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition,'' said Marie-Am&eacutelie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
