Spread the love

What an evening at the Stade de France this Monday August 5th! The Legend of the Jump Pole Vault, Armand Duplantis retains his Olympic title and sets a new world record.

The Essentials

  • A nightmare evening for French athletics! Nicolas-Marie Daru, Alexis Miellet and Louis Gilavert, who competed in the 3000m steeplechase, failed to qualify for the final, having been eliminated in the heats. In the 200m heats, Ryan Zézé and Pablo Mateo will need to go through the repechages to reach the semi-finals. In the women's race, Gemima Joseph and Hélène Parisot were eliminated in the semi-finals. Flag bearer for the French delegation at the 2024 Olympic Games, Mélina Robert-Michon missed out on her discus throw final, finishing in last place in an event won by American favorite Valarie Allman, who retained her title. At the end of the evening, R&eacutenelle Lamote finished 5th in her 800m final, won by the British Keely Hodgkinson.
