In addition to the musical performances, many protocol moments are expected during the ceremony, such as the extinguishing of the Olympic cauldron and flame, speeches by IOC bosses Thomas Bach and Cojo Tony Estanguet, as well as the famous passing of the Olympic flag to the next host city.

Côté French flag bearers, Antoine Dupont and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, gold medallists and stars of these Games, will replace discus thrower Mélina Robert-Michon and swimmer Florent Manaudou. Léon Marchand, four-time Olympic swimming champion, will therefore not be flag bearers.
