After a historic day with 8 medals and the fabulous double of Léon Marchand, this Thursday, August 1st could be rich in emotions with judo, kayaking, the Bleues of foil and the entries in the competition of Manaudou and Marchand in the 50m freestyle and 200m medley.

The Ecuadorian accelerates and no one can follow him with only 500m left!
Brazilian Caio Bonfim gets a second red card red card me! He no longer has a joker.
There are four of them à competing for victory in this 20 km walk: the Italian Stano, the Brazilian Bonfim, the Ecuadorian Pintado and the Spaniard Martin. There are two kilometers left.
It's getting too hard to follow for our two French competitors in the 20 km walk. Aurélien Quinion and Gabriel Bordier have not managed to catch up with the leading group. At the 14th kilometer, they have moved up to 17th and 20th position, 6 and 8 seconds behind the leader. A group of 10 seems to be breaking away in front with the favorites Stano, Martin, Pintado and Zhang all there. Only the Swedish European champion Kallstrom also dropped out.
Aurélien Diesse is the French representative in judo in the -100kg category this Thursday. On the eve of Teddy Riner's entry into the competition, the Blue is among the outsiders in his category. Not a top contender, he will start his day at 10am with the 3rd fight on the day's schedule. His opponent will be Tajik Dzhakonghir Madzhidov.
No acceleration at the front with a regular pace under 4 minutes per kilometer. The Chinese Zhang has taken things in hand. If Aurélien Quinion is hanging on to 12th place after 13 kilometers and is just a second behind, it seems more difficult for Gabriel Bordier who is falling back in the hierarchy. He is 19th at 3 seconds at the 13th kilometer.

The two Frenchmen Gabriel Bordier and Aurélien Quinion are still in this group. On the other hand, the penalties are piling up. Note that a red card is now synonymous with a penalty of two minutes and more of automatic disqualification. Guatemalan Barrondo has just paid the price and leaves with a 2-minute penalty. Mexican Doctor, already penalized, has just been sanctioned again by the judges. This time, he will not leave…
13th place, just one second behind the leader for Gabriel Bordier, Aurélien Quinion moved up to 22nd place in a race that passed the 11th kilometer. For the time being, no one has broken away while the pace is regular. However, there have been a few disqualifications for not supporting themselves on the ground. This is the case for Mexican José Luis Doctor for whom the Olympic race has just ended with a two-minute penalty!
The rhythm begins à &be hard à follow and the peloton stretches. The Ecuadorian Brian Pintado set the pace at the 9th kilometer out of 20 ahead of the Italian Olympic champion Massimo Stano. The Blues have fallen back in the hierarchy before the halfway point. Aurélien Quinion passed by in 23rd position at the 9th kilometer, Gabriel Bordier was 28th. However, the two men remained in the good peloton.
This would be one of the great French exploits of these Olympic Games. Double Olympic medallist in windsurfing (including a title in Rio), Charline Picon has taken on a crazy challenge by switching to skiff dinghy sailing in a duo with Sarah Steyaert. The two French women, outsiders before the competition, occupy the top of the ranking with the last regatta, the decisive medal race which counts double! To pocket the gold, they will have to get ahead of the Dutch duo, not finish three boats behind the Swedes and four behind the Norwegians. The medal race will take place in the middle of the afternoon in Marseille.
The Swede Perseus Kallstrom moved to the front of the peloton after 7km. The Spaniard Alvaro Martin and the Italian Massimo Stano are just behind as is the Chinese Jun Zhang. The two Frenchmen are there, Aurélien Quinion has moved up to 8th, 1 second behind the leader, Gabriel Bordier follows in 11th place and remains in the rhythm of the leading men.
We are approaching the 7th kilometer of the 20km walk, therefore a third of the way through the race, and the peloton is still well-formed. The reigning Olympic champion, the Italian Massimo Stano, is among the top places.

Several big French stars are expected during the Olympic Games. We are thinking in particular of Léon Marchand in swimming who could be the biggest star of these Games. But team sports with handball, basketball, volleyball, football, could also bring their share of trinkets. Finally, what can we say about judo with in particular its spearhead Teddy Riner or fencing, always a very prolific sport.
