This Sunday sounds like the last day of the 2024 Paralympic Games. Three French are committed to trying to preserve the eighth place on the medal table.

  • For this last day of the 2024 Paralympic Games, three French people will be at follow: Nélia Barbosa (final of the 200m in kayak (KL3), Rosario Murcia-Gangloff (marathon, T12) and Abel Aber (va'a, new para-canouml; discipline). The day will conclude with the closing ceremony, the highlight of the show of this edition of the Paralympic Games.
  • Among the results of this Sunday, Nélia Barbosa took silver in the 200m of para-canouml; and therefore the last French medalist at these 2024 Paralympic Games. Para-kayakist Abel Aber completed the 2024 Paralympic Games. &agrav; sixth place in his final. The Frenchwoman Rosario Murcia-Gangloff finished à fourth place in the T12 marathon at the end of his strength.

After her second place in the final of the women's 200m para-canoe, Nélia Barbosa received her silver medal in Vaires-sur-marne, the last one distributed in a French athlete in these 2024 Paralympic Games.

12:50 – 75 medals in these Paralympic Games!

There will therefore be no more French medals in these 2024 Paralympic Games. Nélia Barbosa collected the last tricolor trinket and brings the total to 75 (19 gold, 28 silver and 28 bronze). France will finish at eighth place in the medal table since Australia will, at best, be able to equalise in terms of gold medals but will not have more medals in total.

No surprise medal therefore for Abel Aber who finished in sixth place in his final which was particularly tough. Nélia Barbosa was therefore the last medallist of the 2024 Paralympic Games.

Abel Aber will compete in his para-canoe final in five short minutes in Vaires-sur-Marne! The Frenchman has a tough final but hopes, despite everything, to bring one last medal to the French delegation in these 2024 Paralympic Games.

“It was a difficult preparation with ups and downs. Today was incredible, I loved it. I didn't even imagine it. Winning a silver medal here in Paris in front of my friends and family is crazy. I finished behind Laura (Sugar) who is stratospheric and I got closer to her so it's promising for the future,” declared, with a big smile, the silver medalist in para-canoeing.

12:18 – Rosario Murcia-Gangloff finally 4th!

In the women's T12 marathon, Rosario Murcia-Gangloff finally took 4th place after two disqualifications in front of her. The Frenchwoman was therefore very close to taking the bronze medal in these 2024 Paralympic Games at the age of 59.

The Frenchwoman was beaten by Laura Sugar in this para-canoe final and will have to settle for the silver medal in these 2024 Paralympic Games.

Nélia Barbosa is launching herself into this 200m kayak KL3 final in these 2024 Paralympic Games. It is the penultimate chance for a French medal in these Games!

It may be the first French medal of the day on this last day of the 2024 Paralympic Games. Nélia Barbosa will compete in her para-canouml;e final in five short minutes.

In the small final of women's wheelchair basketball, China wins the bronze medal in these 2024 Paralympic Games after an easy victory against Canada (65-43).

The 59-year-old Frenchwoman finished in sixth place in the women's T12 marathon at the 2024 Paralympic Games, not without difficulty. She even fell a few meters from the finish. Check out these stunning images.

11:48 – The very touching words of Murcia-Gangloff

“It's a very difficult course for me, I keep stumbling and by stumbling I lose my footing. My right thigh contracted. The most important thing is to have finished the race because we are at home. I went all the way. I am proud of my children, my parents, my guides. Enjoy your health because it is the most precious thing you can have. Long live France, long live our home! We are experiencing something magical. I had to go all the way,” declared Rosario Murcia-Gangloff. 

&At 59, the para-athlete wants to continue and believes that it is "very conceivable" to participate in the Los Angeles Games in four years. 

At the end of her strength, the Frenchwoman Rosario Murcia-Gangloff finishes this Paralympic marathon with her guide. She finishes in sixth position at the height of her 59 years by falling. The Chinese woman who finished in fifth position could be disqualified.

11:30 – A third place for Congost!

The Spanish Elena Congost finishes in the third position of this T12 women's marathon with her guide Mia Carol Bruguera who finished exhausted. The guide almost fell just before the finish line. What a picture.

11:28 – En-Nourhi finishes

It's a Moroccan double in the women's T12 marathon! Meriem En-Nourhi and her guide Abdelhadi El Harti finished 9'42″ behind her compatriot El Idriss. The two Moroccans celebrated this great race together.

11:23 – China dominates Canada

In the small final of women's wheelchair basketball, the Chinese lead 35-17 at halftime. They are getting closer to the bronze medal in these 2024 Paralympic Games. 

11:17 – El Idrissi wins with the world record!

What a race from the Moroccan who won in 2h48'35" going it alone from A to agrave Z in this T12 women's marathon of the 2024 Paralympic Games. It is quite simply the world record for the discipline. 

11:10 – El Idrissi takes a stroll

The Moroccan is in exceptional form in this women's T12 marathon and is heading towards a sublime victory in under 2 hours 50 minutes of racing. 

11:02 – The two French flag bearers known

This evening will take place the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games. The French delegation has revealed the two para-athletes who will carry the French flag at on the occasion of this event which promises to be exceptional again. Aurélie Aubert and Tanguy de la Forest are the lucky ones. 

The Frenchman secures the essentials by finishing third in his va'a semi-final. The final is scheduled for 12:40 for a potential new medal in the French purse in these 2024 Paralympic Games.

The objective for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records, as for the Olympic Games.  "The goal is mainly gold medals, because that's what counts most in the ranking of nations," recalls Marie-Amélie Le Fur. "[…] I was asked if this wasn't a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so much lost in performance, we've come a long way. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition,'' said Marie-Am&eacutelie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
