New day at the Paralympic Games with once again some great medals expected for the para cycling

The Essentials

  • After another crazy day and 11 medals, the delegate French delegation hopes to bring back many more medals this Friday, September 6. In para cycling, Heidi Gaugain unlocked the day's counter with a silver medal, imitated by Kevin le Cunff in the men's C4-5 a few minutes later. Elie de Carvalho is also aligned in tandem.
  • For the rest of the day, we will follow Nathan Petit and Armando Rodrigues in para judo or Houdet and Cattaneo for the bronze medal match in wheelchair tennis at Roland-Garros and Brianna Vidé in wheelchair fencing.
  • The previous Tokyo Games record of 54 medals is broken. The French delegation now has 61 charms.

The French duo is in the small final of the men's wheelchair tennis doubles tournament. They are scheduled for the second rotation on the Suzanne Lenglen court.

12:14 – Cécile Demaude continues in repêchages

LA Française passes the first round of repechage by winning 15-0 against Venezuelan Francia Jaimez Rojas.

11:58 – Marie Patouillet fifth in the line race

The Frenchwoman crossed the line in fifth position. She was surprised at the start of the race by the first attacks and was never able to get back to the head of the race.< /p>

The Frenchwoman is seventh with a first jump of 5.12m.

10:35 – All the Frenchmen placed at halfway through the race

Kevin le Cunff and Gatien le Rousseau are leading in a group of four, with Dorian Foulon about twenty seconds behind. In the women's race, Heidi Gaugain is also in the breakaway, and Marie Patouillet is one minute behind.

10:30 – Cécile Demaude beaten

The Frenchwoman leaves the main draw in the eighth round and goes into the repechage.

10:24 – Hector Denayer does not make it to the final

This is the ninth time in the series for the Frenchwoman, who seemed a little blunted on this last race.

The objective for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records as for the Olympic Games. "The objective is mainly gold medals, because that is what counts most in the ranking of nations," recalls Marie-Am&eacutelie Le Fur. "[…] I was asked if this was not a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so much deserted the performance, we came back from far. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition,'' launched Marie-Am&eacutelie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
