After a golden sweep on Monday, Tuesday could bring new medals to the French delegation.

  • The Paralympic Games continue this Tuesday, September 3. This morning, swimmers Alex Portal, Ugo Didier and Laurent Chardard qualified for the finals and are all aiming for a medal tonight. In table tennis, Fabien Lamirault ensured a medal in para table tennis while Jean-Louis Michaud completely missed a shot while he was playing for gold and will leave without a medal.
  • On the athletics side, no feat for Arnaud Assoumani and Nantenin Keita. The long jumper finished fifth in the final while the flag bearer did not advance to the final by six hundredths. Tonight, we will have to follow Valentin Bertrand at the long jump (T37), Luka Meissonnier in the shot put (T37), as well as Charles-Antoine Kouakou and Laure Ustaritz in the 400m (T20 and T37)

Paradoxically, we can hope that the first French medal of the day will be delayed. Indeed, Mateo Boheas is playing his semi-final at 5 p.m. of para table tennis MS10 against the Pole Patryk Chojnowski. The Frenchman did not exist in this quarter-final, lost in three sets 11-7 11-4 11-4.

11:20 – Nantenin Keita fifth in his series

Best personal performance of the season for Nantenin Keita, but it is not enough to go through to the final. It's the first one eliminated.

11:11 – The French flag bearer on the track

Nantenin Keita arrives on the track at the Stade de France for her debut in the 100m T13. This is not her favorite event since she is aiming for a medal in the 400m.

The Frenchman did not force to qualify for the 200m medley final with the second time in the heats.

The goal for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records, as for the Olympic Games.  "The goal is mainly gold medals, because that's what counts most in the ranking of nations," recalls Marie-Amélie Le Fur. "[…] I was asked if this wasn't a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so much lost in performance, we've come a long way. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition,'' said Marie-Am&eacutelie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
