LIVE. Paralympic Games 2024: Léauté, Boullé… A fireworks display of gold medals ? Live

This Saturday, the day promises to be another busy one for French medal chances with Leauté and Boullé aiming for gold.

The essentials

  • This Saturday, the day starts strong with para-cycling, a discipline that has brought nine titles and 25 medals since the start of the 2024 Paralympic Games. Alexandre Léauté will try to win a 10th at 9:30 a.m. with the C1-C3 race. In judo, Helios Latchoumanaya will be the chance for the first French title in the discipline with a first fight scheduled for 10:06 a.m. In kayaking, Frenchman R&eacutemy Boull&eacute will try to reach the final in her semi-final scheduled for around 10am. Later in the day, flag bearer Nantenin Keïta will compete in the T13 400m. As a dessert to a beautiful day ahead, the French blind football team will try to win gold in their final against Argentina, which brings back painful memories.
  • This Friday, Kévin le Cunff and Heïdi Gaugain were beaten in the sprint in para-cycling and took home two silver medals, while Alexandre Lloveras and Yohann Paillot took bronze in tandem. Emiline Pierre won her second medal of the Paralympic Games by taking bronze in the 100m backstroke S10. In the other disciplines, Nathan Petit was beaten in the match for the bronze medal in para-judo. Sofia Pace and flag bearer Nantenin Keita both qualified for their respective 400m T38 and 400m T13 finals.

After his great feat in the round of 16, Cyril Jonard will try to continue his adventure in the +90kg category in para-judo. He is opposed to the Moldovan Olag Cretul.

"I am really disappointed because I did not have the same legs as the day before yesterday. “I am so disappointed because everyone was there to encourage me. This is the first time my family came to see me run, I am sorry,” regretted Nantenin Keïta who was unable to find her words. She was totally devastated after her sixth place in the 400m final.

Leauté and Peyroton-Dartet are still well in the running to score a double. The two French riders are at the front with two other riders.

Thanks to a waza-ari at the end of the fight, Hélios Latchoumanaya, big favorite, reaches the semi-finals in the -90kg in J2. A good thing done for the French para-judoka who aims for the title today.

France's flag bearer will not win a medal in these 2024 Paralympic Games. She finished in sixth place in a tough race where the world record was beaten by the Brazilian Rayane Soares.

The French flag bearer of the Paralympics is on the track of the Stade de France to try to snag a medal. 

10:22 – Hélios Latchoumanaya hooked

If the French para-judoka is the most incisive, he still can't score in this quarter-final after more than three minutes of combat.

10:17 – Hélios Latchoumanaya enters the scene!

He is the big favourite in para-judo in the -90kg J2 category. Hélios Latchoumanaya, who sometimes fights with the able-bodied, is up against the Georgian Lasha Kizilashvili for a place in the semi-finals.

10:09 – R&eacutemy Boull&eacute in the final!

&In Vaires-sur-Marne, in para-canouml;e, Rémy Boullé goes to the final after an authoritative victory in his KL1 semi-final. He sets the best time and is the favorite for the final which will start at 11:20. 

10:06 – Leze loses

Prescillia Leze loses on ippon against the Italian Carolina Costa. She is switching to the rep&echages and will try to console herself with the bronze in these 2024 Paralympic Games. 

10:03 – Four riders at the front!

In the C1-C3 para-cycling race, four men are at the front and the two Frenchmen are among these leading riders. Alexandre Léauté and Thomas Peyroton-Dartet are aiming for a medal. 

10:02 – Two Frenchmen at the Champ-de-Mars

Prescillia Leze and Jason Grandry fight at the same time for a place in the semi-finals of para-judo. 

09:58 – Prescillia Leze soon on the track

After Cyril Jonard's qualification in para-judo, the Frenchwoman Prescillia Leze will try to imitate him in a few moments in the +70kg. If the para-judoka wins, she will qualify for the semi-finals.

The C1-C3 road race has just started in Clichy-sous-bois with Alexandre Leauté who is aiming for a third gold medal in these 2024 Paralympic Games. Thomas Peyroton-Dartet is also at the start. 

09:25 – An update on the medal table for the 2024 Paralympic Games

As the 2024 Paralympic Games prepare to end, there are still two days of competition left and France would certainly like to enter the top 5 of the medal table. Before this day on Saturday, the French delegation occupies sixth place with 65 medals behind Italy which has 63 but three more gold medals. China, with 82 gold medals, will not be able to be caught by Great Britain and the United States, who complete the podium.

09:15 – A copious program

With the first events starting in a quarter of an hour now, they will launch a busy programme for this penultimate day of the 2024 Paralympic Games. Alexanfre Léauté will launch the possible French medal haul at 9:30 a.m. before the entry into the competition of flag bearer Nantenin Keita who contests the final of the 400m T13 at 10:21 a.m. At the same time several French players will be involved in para-judo.

In para-table tennis, Lucas Didier is playing the semi-final of class 9 at 11am against Australian Ma Lin. Also this morning, kayaker R&eacutemy Boullé is playing the semi-final of category KL1 at 10:07am. At the end of the day, the Blues of blind football are playing the final against Argentina and it looks set to be very hot at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

This penultimate day of competition at the 2024 Paralympic Games should get off to a flying start with one of the French stars Alexandre Léaut&eacute who will try to win a third title in these Paralympics. He will be entered in the CI-C3 race.
