LIVE. Paralympic Games 2024: Portal, Léauté, Foulon all aim for a medal, live

This Saturday August 31, Alexandre Leauté will try to win a second gold medal in these Olympic Games in the C1-3 time trial. Hopes are placed on Portal and Morceau in para -ntation as well as on Foulon, Le Cunff and Le Rousseau in para-cycling on track.

  • After his beautiful medal in the C2 pursuit, Alexandre Leautá is one of the big favourites in the C1-3 time trial. Other Frenchmen are aiming for the podium in para-cycling, Like Foulon (pursuit C5), Le Cunff and Le Rousseau (pursuit C4), Alex Portal can dream of a medal in the 400m freestyle, as can Léane Morceau in the 100m backstroke.
  • On the second day of the Paralympic Games, Alexandre Léauté was crowned in the individual pursuit in para cycling. Other medals were acquired by French athletes with a shower of silver. This is the case of Tanguy De la Forest in para shooting, Hector Denayer in para swimming in the 100 m breaststroke or Djelika Diallo in para taekwondo. The pair Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud and Alex Portal won the bronze medal.

The objective for these 2024 Paralympic Games is quite high for the French delegation, which hopes to break all records, as for the Olympic Games.  "The goal is mainly gold medals, because that's what counts most in the ranking of nations," recalls Marie-Amélie Le Fur. "[…] I was asked if this wasn't a discounted ambition compared to the Olympic top 5. But we had so much lost in performance, we've come a long way. We were 14th in Tokyo; aiming for the top 8 means doubling the number of gold medals, so a real ambition,'' said Marie-Am&eacutelie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic Committee. As a reminder, in 2021, the French Paralympic delegation won 54 medals, including eleven Olympic titles.
