LIVE. Road cycling at the 2024 Olympics: five men in the lead, the race live

This Saturday, 90 cyclists are competing in the road cycling race at the 2024 Olympic Games. Five men make up the breakaway, validated by the peloton. Follow the race live.

12:35 – Lost time

After having conceded more than a minute on the peloton, the breakaway continues to lose time. 5'42″ gap between the two groups.

12:31 – Status quo in mind

While the riders are now on country roads, the situation is the same on the race where five riders are leading the debates for the moment. As a reminder, here is the leading group: Achraf Ed Doghmy (Morocco), Christopher Rougier-Lagane (Mauritius), Thanakhan Chaiyasombat (Thailand), Charles Kagimu (Uganda) and Eric Manizabayo (Rwanda).

12:26 – One minute lost

The peloton remains at a distance. À 225 kilometers from the finish, the leading group has lost almost a minute on the peloton. 6:08″ lead for the five leading men.

At the head of the race, Moroccan Achraf Ed Doghmy is back after being distanced.

12:15 – A sublime decor

This Saturday morning, the runners passed in front of the famous castle of Versailles. An idyllic setting for an Olympic event.

12:12 – First hour of racing

While Achraf Ed Doghmy was in the race released by the leading group, the first race has just taken place in this Olympic event.

12:10 – More than seven minutes

The gap climbs again, passing over seven minutes after the first hour of racing.

12:05 – The Blues poorly placed

While Mathieu Van der Poel has closed in on the top positions at the head of the peloton, the French riders are currently in the middle of the chase group in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

12:00 – The Netherlands and Denmark lead

In the peloton, Dan Hoole (Netherlands) and Mikkel Bjerg (Denmark) are positioned at the front to prevent the gap from growing too much. Today, both nations want to compete for the Olympic title with Mathieu van der Poel and Mads Pedersen.

11:59 – The gap is stable!

While he had come back in the last kilometers, the gap between the peloton and the breakaway has now stabilized at around 6:55.

11:55 – Versailles!

Today, the course offers the riders the chance to pass in front of sumptuous monuments. At Versailles, the breakaway and then the peloton rode at side from the Château de Versailles.

After having a mechanical problem, Achraf Ed Doghmy is back in the leading group.

11:35 – The breakaway takes off

À 254 kilometers from the finish, the gap continues to grow between the breakaway and the peloton.

11:32 – More than 5 minutes

&As they approach the first difficulty of the day, the Côte des Gardes (1.9km at 6%), the breakaway has a lead of more than five minutes over the peloton.

11:28 – Ed Doghmy falls behind

At the head of the race, Moroccan Achraf Ed Doghmy has fallen behind. He seems to be having difficulty fix his meter on his handlebars.

11:26 – The gap is growing

The peloton has completely recovered and the five leading men now have a three-minute lead.

11:25 – The leading group

As a reminder, here are the five riders present in the breakaway: Achraf Ed Doghmy (Morocco), Christopher Rougier-Lagane (Mauritius), Thanakhan Chaiyasombat (Thailand), Charles Kagimu (Uganda) and Eric Manizabayo (Rwanda).

11:22 – The breakaway validated

In the streets of Paris, the five leading men have a 1'45" lead over the peloton which has left slip away.

11:18 – Junction made

At the start of the race, Achraf Ed Doghmy (Mar oc) and Charles Kagimu (Uganda) performed é the junction with the leading trio.

11:16 – Three riders in the lead

After four kilometers in this Olympic event, Christopher Rougier-Lagane (Mauritius), Thanakan Chaiyasombat (Thailand) and Eric Manizbayo (Rwanda) attacked to get a few lengths ahead of the other 87 runners.

11:15 – Notable absences

Today, some great runners are absent. Sacré à Tokyo, Richard Carapaz is absent, as is the triple winner of the Tour, Tadej Pogacar "tiredé", the Dane Jonas Vingegaard, the Slovenian Primoz Roglic and the Belgian Arnaud De Lie.

The real start of the men's road race has just been given. From the first hectom&etres, the Rwandan Eric Manizabayo is the first to attack. It's off for 273 kilometres.
