LIVE. Swimming at the 2024 Olympics: a dark evening for the French, the summary

Spread the love

After a successful morning this Saturday , French swimming has not won no medals in the evening. Disappointment for Maxime Grousset, Anastasiia Kirpichnikova and the relay with Léon Marchand.

The essential

  • After a dark evening, the French will be back on Sunday evening with new chances of medals for the last day of events at the 2024 Olympics! Indeed, David Aubry and Damien Joly will be lined up in the 1500m final while the men's and women's 4x100m freestyle relays will try to bring home some last medals.
  • Losing choice for Maxime Grousset! While he had chosen to forfeit the 50m freestyle final to concentrate on the 100m butterfly, the Frenchman finished 5th in a final won by Kristof Milak this Saturday evening, ahead of Canadians Josh Liendo and Ilya Kharun. In the 50m freestyle, Béryl Gastaldello missed out on qualifying for the final after a 6th place. No new medal for Anastasiia Kirpichnikova, 7th in the 800m freestyle final won by the inevitable Kathy Ledecky. The last race of the evening, the 4x100m mixed medley relay did not save French swimming. Léon Marchand, Yohann Ndoye-Brouard, Marie Wattel and Béryl Gastaldello finished fourth place.
