LIVE. Swimming at the 2024 Olympics: Manaudou perfect in the 50m, Marchand still imperial, well-managed series!

After a historic evening, the day is still full for French swimming with Florent Manaudou and L&eacute ;on Imperial Merchant in the morning series.

The Essentials

  • Florent Manaudou has launched his Olympics! The flag bearer of the French delegation, entered in the 50m freestyle heats at 11:37, finished in first place in his heat in 21'54 and is heading to the final. Maxime Grousset, 4th time in his heat, will also be in the semi-finals with the 16th time.
  • Engaged In the 200m medley heats, Léon Marchand was once again imperial by finishing second in his heat in complete relaxation. Pauline Mahieu and Emma Terebo qualified for the semi-finals of the 200m backstroke.

The relay women's 4x200m relay team finishes far behind in the 4x200m series and will not see the Olympic final.

12:09 – Place au 4x200m women's relay team

Lucile Tessariol, Assia Touati, Marina Jehl and Anastasiia Kirpichnikova  will try to bring the French relay to the final.

12:00 – Marchand 2nd in his series

Relaxed, Léon Marchand finishes his series in 2nd position and goes to the semi-final of this 200m medley in 1&amp ;apos;57''86.

11:57 – Merchant ovationné

And that's an understatement, Léon Marchand arrives for his series to a standing ovation . The Frenchman is truly the star of these Paris Olympics.

11:49 – The series 200m medley

Here we go for the series with Léon Marchand who is expected in the pool in a few minutes.

11:46 – Grousset qualified well

Maxime Grousset qualified well, but only in 16th position by 3 hundredths.

11:42 – Grousset 4th in his series

In a very difficult series with notably the British Benjamin Proud, Maxime Grousset finished in 21'94. It should work, but it's not certain yet!

A perfect start for Florent Manaudou in his 50m freestyle heat! The Frenchman finished in 21'54', his best time being 21'52, it's perfect!

Florent Manaudou arrived in the pool, already to a huge ovation from the crowd. The Frenchman is one of the big favorites and it should go by quite calmly.

11:22 – Let's go for the 50m!

The first series of the 50m are launched! Florent Manaudou and Maxime Grousset are expected in a few minutes.

It was close but Pauline Mahieu takes the 14th time in the series and also goes to the semi-final of the women's 200m backstroke!

11:19 – Terebo qualifies

With a time of 2'09''66, the Frenchwoman is qualified for the semi-finals of the womené200m backstroke.

11:18 – Pauline Mahieu 7th in her class ute;rie, Emma Terebo 3e

The two French women in the 200m backstroke heats finished in 3rd place for Emma Terebo and 7th place for Pauline Mahieu.

11:12 – Time for the French women's heats!

For the moment, the best time in the heats is for the Chinese Peng in 2'08''29. Now it's the turn of the French women who can reach the semi-finals.

When are the swimming events at the Olympic Games held ?

Swimming competitions will begin on Saturday, July 27, with the first medals awarded in the evening, with the finals of the 400 meters and the 4x100m freestyle. The events will last nine days, until Sunday, August 4.

Where the events will take place?

The pool swimming events will take place at the Défense Arena in Nanterre. The open water swimming will be in the Seine, with a finish at the Pont Alexandre III. Finally, diving, water polo and artistic swimming will be at the Aquatique center in Saint-Denis.
