20:00 – Summary of the evening

The men's 4x100m medley won a nice bronze medal to put the cherry on the cake on this last day of swimming. The quartet composed of N'Doye-Brouard, Marchand, Grousset and Marchand broke the French record and could have even challenged China and the USA a little more for first place. For its part, the women's relay was far from the podium, sixth in the final, despite a French record shattered, the girls (Gastaldello, Bonnet, Terebo, Wattel) were never able to compete with the best, notably the United States who broke the world record. Almost identical scenario for David Aubry (7th) and Damien Joly (8th) in the 1500m. The two Frenchmen were not ridiculous (Aubry broke his record by 6 seconds) but they were in a very tough final dominated from start to finish by Bobby Finke, who broke the world record. Note the second gold medal of Sarah Sjostroem, who brilliantly won the competition. the 50 m freestyle swim.The Olympic Swimming events are over. Thanks to Léon Marchand, who won four gold medals and 1 bronze, France's results are more than positive (4 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze). The French team almost equalled the London medal record (4 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze). On an individual level, there is nevertheless a slight disappointment with average performances from certain swimmers, notably Emma Terebo in the backstroke and Maxime Grousset, disappointing in the 100m butterfly.

Behind the United States, Australia finished second in the women's 4x100m medley in 3,5311. The podium was completed by China in 3,5323. It should be noted that the American Regan Smith broke the world record in the 100m backstroke during the first relay

The American relay went it alone in this 4x100m medley final, breaking the world record in 3,4963. France finished sixth in 3'56"29 (national record improved)

When are the Olympic swimming events held ?

The swimming events will begin on Saturday, July 27, with the first medals awarded in the evening, with the finals of the 400 meters and the 4x100m freestyle. The events will last nine days, until Sunday, August 4.

Where the events will take place?

The pool swimming events will take place at the Paris Défense Arena in Nanterre. The open water swimming will be in the Seine, with a finish at the Pont Alexandre III. Finally, diving, water polo and artistic swimming will be at the Aquatique Center in Saint-Denis.
