Incredible evening in the Olympic swimming pool this Tuesday, July 30 with French in almost all races.

• Frenchman Léon Marchand strolled through the semi-finals of the 200m butterfly to reach the final. He will be back in action in the 200m breaststroke at 22:07. Emma Terebo and Beryl Gastaldello, who were entered in the 100m backstroke final, were unable to do anything, finishing 7th and 8th, as was David Aubry in the 800m. The French 4x200m relay is the last chance of the evening.
• Maxime Grousset qualified in the lead for the 100m freestyle final at the start of this session by posting the 4th time. Beryl Gastaldello and Marie Wattel hope to do the same thing a little later.

Qualified for the 100m freestyle final after his race early in the evening, Maxime Grousset was satisfied with his semi-final: “It's interesting. There are swimmers who come back very quickly in the last 50m and I'm capable of doing that. It's the first 100m where I'm leaving just as quickly.

5th ex-aequo tonight, David Aubry was satisfied with his performance as he confided to Nelson Monfort: “Today, I surpassed myself. I dove into this pool for an Olympic final. The objective was achieved. Doing an Olympic was a dream. It wasn't much that was missing. The three swimmers on the podium are exceptional. Finishing 5th among all the best is incredible. I've already swum faster but I'm very happy."

In 7'43"59, David Aubry finished 5th in the final, 5 seconds and 40 hundredths behind the gold medalist, Daniel Wiffen.

What a final! At the end of a crazy race & twists and turns, Daniel Wiffen wins the gold medal in the 800m freestyle, ahead of American Bobby Fink, who made a huge final length. Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri completes the podium. In 7'38"19, the Irishman broke the Olympic record.

As the bell rings, Gregorio Paltrinieri flies ahead of this race. Wiffen tries to stay in touch. The two are stuck at the water line.

While the Australian Winnington has cracked, the Irish Wiffen now leads this final of the 800m freestyle ahead of the Italian Paltrinieri and the American Finke. There are 250m left to browse.

When are the Olympic swimming events ?

The swimming events will begin on Saturday July 27, with the first medals delivered in the evening, with the finals of the 400m and 4x100m freestyle. The tests are spread over nine days, until Sunday August 4.

Où the tests take place?

The pool swimming events will take place at the Défense Arena in Nanterre. The open water swimming will be in the Seine, with a finish at the Pont Alexandre III. Finally, diving, water polo and artistic swimming will be at the Aquatique center in Saint-Denis.
