22:30 – Summary of the evening

Once again, it was Léon Marchand who stood out best among the French during this night swimming session. The Toulouse native qualified brilliantly for the 200m medley final by finishing first in his heat ahead of Seto in 1,56,31. Despite the fatigue that is starting to show, the triple Olympic champion will be the big favorite tomorrow in the final.

They should have disappointed There being two, there will only be one Frenchman in the 50m freestyle final. Manaudou 8th best time in the half (21'64'') will not be accompanied by by Maxime Grousset. The New Caledonian finished 3rd in his series in 21'60 but he declared é package for the final tomorrow. The New Caledonian prefers to concentrate on the 100m butterfly, a distance in which he is world champion.

Mewen Tomac, fourth in the 200m backstroke final, will probably have some regrets about his start to the race. The Frenchman finished just off the podium in a race won by the Hungarian Kos ahead of the Greek Christou.

The two small disappointments of the evening came from the girls' side. Emma Terebo and Pauline Terebo, respectively 4th and 5th in their semi-final, were unable to reach the 200m backstroke final. This was the goal of the two swimmers and the task was not out of reach.

Maxime Grousset has just withdrawn from the 50m freestyle final. Third in his semi-final in 21.60, the New Caledonian prefers to focus on the 100m butterfly, a distance in which he is the reigning world champion. Only 30 minutes separate the 50m freestyle final and the 100m butterfly semi-final.

The Australian team wins the Olympic title in the 4 x 200m relay with Titmus (Olympic champion in the 400m freestyle). They are ahead of the American team in 7'38'08 with Ledecky (7'40'&86) and China in 7'42''34. Australians break Olympic record.

I'm starting to feel this fatigue from the series of races. Now I have another challenge tomorrow the 4 x 200m, we need to rest well”

22:02 – All in control

Largely in the lead after 150 meters, Marchand calmly managed his last 50 meters by saving his efforts according to the speed of the Japanese Seto. We feel a big margin of French on this distance

L&eac;on Marchand quietly won in front of the Japanese in 1''56&31. One second and five better than his time this morning. Marchand is ahead of the Japanese Seto 1'56'&59 and the Canadian Knox in 1'57'76

After the second semi-final won by Kaylée McKeown in 2'07'57, the two French swimmers are therefore fixed. They will not go through to the final, Terebo has the 9th best time in the semi-finals, while Mahieu is 11th. A slight disappointment for the two French women.

21:27 – Kaylee McKeown wants to reassure herself

The big favorite in the 200m backstroke, Australian Kaylee McKeown will certainly have to be faster than this morning in the heats, where she managed his efforts by finishing third

21:25 – Terebo 4th and Mahieu 5th

The French can still qualify after this first semi-final. Emma Terebo finished fourth in 2'09'38 while Pauline Mahieu came fifth in 2'09'56. The race was won by American Bacon in 2007-32
