Livret A, LEP, PEL… find out how much your savings accounts will earn you on January 1, 2025 ?

Interest is issued on the night of December 31 to January 1 on regulated savings accounts. Here's an update.

It is during the end-of-year holidays that the interest on your secure investments – such as the Livret A, the LDDS, the LEP, the PEL or the CEL – is credited by your bank. These interests, calculated throughout the year, appear on your accounts from the night of December 31 to January 1, reports Thanksfortheinfo.

All of these investments follow the same principle: interest is generated on the 1st and 16th of each month, based on the balance present on those dates. For example, if you deposit 100 euros in a Livret A paying 3% on the 30th of the month, your interest will start on the 16th of the following month, for an annual amount of 3 euros.

Livret A and LDDS

With a fixed rate of 3% in 2024, the Livret A and LDDS generate easily calculable interest:

1,000 euros deposited throughout the year produce 30 euros of interest. At an average balance of 7,000 euros, the interest reaches 210 euros, and 450 euros for 15,000 euros saved. For booklets with a ceiling of 22,950 euros, the annual gain climbs to 688.5 euros.

The interest is capitalizable, which means that it is added to the existing balance to generate additional interest the following year, even if the payment ceiling is reached, specifies the specialized media.

LEP

The Livret d’épargne populaire (LEP) offers a variable return depending on the time of year: 6% until January 31, 5% until July 31, then 4% since August.

For 1,000 euros saved, the interest amounts to 47.30 euros on the year. With an average balance of 6,500 euros, the interest reaches 307.41 euros, and for booklets with a ceiling of 10,000 euros, they peak at 472.94 euros.

PEL and CEL

Unlike other booklets, the PEL and CEL are subject to taxation (30% deductions). In 2024:

1,000 euros on a PEL yields 15.8 euros net. 1,000 euros on a CEL generates 14 euros net.

The PEL, with a high ceiling of 61,200 euros, nevertheless allows a maximum net return of 966.96 euros, compared to 214.2 euros for a CEL with a ceiling of 15,300 euros.
