A69 : décision d’ici vendredi

#TOULOUSE/CASTRES –It took nearly four hours of hearing on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Toulouse administrative court for all stakeholders to express themselves. On December 16, 2024, 14 associations filed a summary suspension before the Toulouse court. They are demanding the suspension of work on the A69 motorway (Toulouse-Castres) until a decision on the merits is rendered in February 2025. For or against, each presented their arguments. The interim relief judge's decision on whether or not to continue the work is expected “this Friday (January 17, 2025) at the latest”.

Today's figure: 300

#OCCITANIE –This is the number of high school students from Occitanie who will participate in an educational trip to Auschwitz, this Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 January 2025. These trips are part of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the camps and of educational work around the history of the Shoah carried out throughout the year by the students and their teachers. A joint restitution of this work will be organized in May 2025 at the Rivesaltes Memorial (Pyrénées-Orientales), which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025.

François, schizophrenic, died in hospital: his mother denounces

#MONTPELLIER – “He did not have a serious pathology. He could have been saved”, says Deborah Monaco straight away when referring to the death of her son François at the age of 40 at the Montpellier University Hospital in November 2023. She denounces “differentiated care between people with psychological disorders and others”. Her son, a schizophrenic, was hospitalized following abdominal pain, diarrhea, and blood in the urine. Tests revealed kidney failure and heart problems. After trips to the emergency room at Montpellier University Hospital, “my son was screaming in pain and the only treatment he received was Valium to calm him down, because he was schizophrenic” . François then fell into a coma and died three weeks later. Today, his mother has contacted the Commission for Conciliation and Compensation for Medical Accidents.

In support of the poorly housed

#LOZERE –Launched in 2019 by the state, the “Émile” program is aimed at people in poor housing situations in Île-de-France, and recently in Lyon. In Lozère, Laëtitia Plo and Frédéric Salvetti, employees of the Aurore association, are the actors of this program. They support candidates in settling in: diagnosis, proposals, immersion, employment, new accommodation and moving. On average, candidates are settled in after six months. After settling in, the two employees follow the new Lozériens. “It's not always easy, especially for single people. We are their only point of reference. We allow them to create a bond” , concludes Laëtitia Plo. Contact: by email programme.emile@ares-association.fr or at 06 26 65 04 83.

A tour of France of medical deserts

#MILLAU – Anaïs Werestchack, a recently graduated doctor, embarked on an extraordinary tour of France, that of medical deserts. With her partner, Brice Philippon, a physiotherapist, aboard a converted van, the couple made a stopover in South Aveyron. A stop that inspired Anaïs Werestchack, who took up her pen to write an open letter to the National Assembly in which she describes what she saw during her time in South Aveyron. “If I am writing to you, it is in the hope of making my words heard, to those who, comfortably seated in the Assembly, make decisions concerning us, doctors, actors of a healthcare system in peril […] A few years ago, six doctors covered this territory of 652 square kilometers, with more than 6,000 inhabitants, but today, I am alone, replacing for 15 days, a doctor who should already be retired.” Relayed in a video on social networks, Anaïs Werestchack's speech was viewed nearly 200,000 times.
