In partnership with the Montpellier University Hospital and the SDIS34, the Red Cross is testing the First Responders system in Hérault, which enables a better and faster response to vital emergencies. On November 29, 50 first aiders were equipped with backpacks during a presentation in Grabels, at the Territorial Directorate of the Red Cross of Hérault.
Among them, Lucie Ruggeri, 28, a first aider at the Lodévois Larzac Unit, based in Lodève.
“This bag that we always have with us, contains a portable defibrillator and all the equipment to manage an emergency while waiting for the Samu and/or firefighters to arrive, says Lucie, a volunteer to integrate this device after specific training. They dispose applications, Sauv Life and Staying Alive that they trigger in case of emergency. They geolocate the nearest First Responders, wherever they are and seven days a week, so that they can intervene while waiting for help to arrive. Because the first minutes are vital in these cases.”
