Mac mini M4: Apple unveils the world's smallest Mac

Tailored for Apple Intelligence, the new Mac mini features an extremely small enclosure while still allowing deliver excellent performance with the M4 and M4 Pro chip.

While Apple had just announced the release of new iMac computers and Apple Intelligence in several countries, the firm has now unveiled its new Mac mini equipped with the M4 chip. The latter has a reduced format and can fit in a small bag or briefcase, but does not forget the performance.

The most obvious new feature on the Mac mini M4 is its design. This new Mac mini has the smallest size for a Mac computer to date with a square format of 12.7 cm which allows it to occupy 50% less surface area compared to the previous generation. Apple has still worked on a new thermal architecture to ensure that the heat emitted by the M4 chip is well ventilated to through the Mac mini case.

The Mac mini M4 is, as its name suggests, equipped with a brand new processor: the M4 chip. This is the same chip found in the latest iMac desktop computers unveiled in October 2024. This chip integrates a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU for excellent everyday performance, with a particular focus on video editing, music creation and code writing. The firm's artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence, is also highlighted with the features already available thanks to the MacOS Sequoia 15.1 update.

In addition to the M4 chip, the Mac mini is offered with an even better configuration and equipped with the M4 Pro chip which integrates a GPU twice as powerful as that of the M4 chip. An obvious choice for the largest resource-intensive applications such as audio rendering in Logic Pro or 3D drawings with Blender software.

In terms of connectivity, the Mac mini M4 has three Thunderbolt 4 ports. The model with the M4 Pro chip also has a Thunderbolt 5 port for greater performance. Both versions have an Ethernet port and an HDMI port for connecting a monitor.

The new Mac mini M4 comes in two distinct versions with either the M4 chip or the M4 Pro chip. The choice is yours and should be made based on your power needs:

The Mac mini will be available in France from Friday, November 8. Pre-orders have been open since Tuesday, October 29.
