“Jean-Yves Le Fur, the love of my life, the father of my son Diego, the stepfather of my daughter Shanna, left Sunday morning in my arms and those of our son. […] We are all devastated”, wrote Maïwenn on Instagram on April 2. The businessman known in the fashion world had passed away two days earlier after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
In a recent interview with Madame Figaro, the actress and filmmaker deplores the general public's lack of knowledge about this “disease that kills 12,270 people per year”. “This cancer is nearly four times more deadly than road accidents”, she emphasizes. Indeed, many French people still associate the disease with factors that are certainly aggravating, but insufficient to explain its appearance.

A symptomusually associated with other pathologies should have given him the flea ear: diabetes.
“[This disease] does not follow any rules, she warns. It is therefore essential to tell people who suffer from recent diabetes and feel stomach pain or who have recurring digestive problems to consult a doctor quickly, who will suggest that they go for a scan, if possible.” Added to these symptoms are back pain, lack of appetite and the appearance of jaundice, according to oncologists.
According to Maïwenn, Jean-Yves Le Fur was “incredibly supported” during his long battle against pancreatic cancer. “Illness makes you run away,” the filmmaker adds, however. Several people I met by chance told me they didn't dare write to me when my husband died.”
She continues: “Fortunately, most people know how to act, but in reality, none word n'apaise“. Several months after losing the father of her son Diego, Maïwenn has resumed her studies and is busy at the same time raising funds for research against pancreatic cancer.
