On his social networks, an Airbnb host shared images of his apartment devastated after the visit of an unscrupulous man. The tenant even sent an invoice to the owner, claiming that the ransacking caused was in reality a decoration operation to pay him.

An American owner offering to rent his apartment on Airbnb recently shared his very bad experience. The man shared photos of his accommodation, trashed by an unscrupulous tenant, reports the New York Post.

The trashed apartment

A nasty surprise awaited this owner. When he returned to his home after the departure of a vacationer who had rented his apartment via the Airbnb platform, this American was shocked.

And for good reason, he found his property in very poor condition: red stains on the walls and mirrors, furniture moved, objects scattered. On his social networks, he describes a real carnage: “It was completely crazy”, he laments.

The joys of Airbnb and VRBO. We had a guest stay at one of our properties and they thought it would be nice to move furniture outside in the snow to redecorate and move loads of furniture into the garage. When they moved out, they sent us a $1000 invoice for their redecorating services. Its now cost us $3000 to put back what they moved and replace what they destroyed. #airbnb #vrbo #shorttermrentals #propertymanagement

He asks her to pay for her “decoration”

The two men crossed paths when the individual was leaving the accommodation. The landlord then asked him: “Why did you move everything?” After which the passing tenant allegedly explained: ” He wanted to redecorate the space to make it more welcoming to him. He was a well-known interior designer in Chicago and he wanted to make it a special space for himself and others.”< /p>

The height of the situation: the unscrupulous visitor asked to be paid for his disorder, even if it was artistic. He left a bill for $1,000, or 950 euros, in the apartment, so that the owner would pay him for his decorating efforts.

Of course, the victim refused, explaining that she had to pay $3,000 to get the place in order.
