More than 5 million French people will have to switch to the box.
This is a back-to-school expense that some people tend to forget. However, given the amount that has to be paid out, it is important to budget for it. In the coming days, or in a few weeks at the latest, several million French people will have to go to the cash register and write a new check. A mandatory step under the law that is of major importance.
Although autumn has not yet officially arrived, summer already seems a long way off. The rapid drop in temperatures and the arrival of gloomy weather across the country have plunged the start of the school year into gloom. Shorts and short-sleeved t-shirts have quickly been swapped for jeans and jackets, or even small sweaters. To the point, for some, of already thinking about heat your home.
But before turning on the radiators, many must go through a non-negligible preliminary step: boiler maintenance. 5 million French people have one in their individual home and 7 million collective housing units are heated by this means. At the dawn of a period where it will turn to full throttle, its verification is necessary: check the fouling of the parts, prevent breakdowns, ensure the absence of gas leaks, electrical problems or obstructed ventilation… So many points to check to avoid any incident during the winter. Generally, it is around the arrival of autumn that the complete examination of the device is carried out.
However, this year, many French people risk having the unpleasant surprise of seeing the amount of the bill being higher than last year. About ten euros extra, as Linternaute was able to see from several individuals. That is an increase of 5 to 10%. Total amount to be paid: around 150-170 euros. Prices vary depending on the company, region and model checked, but this is the order of magnitude.
Checking the boiler once a year is mandatory. However, no fine is issued if this is not done. However, in the event of an incident in your home, the insurance may refuse to compensate you if the boiler is at fault and it has not been revised by a professional in the preceding year.
