IN BRIEF
- The Victoires de la Musique, created in 1985, celebrate every year French artists such as Jean-Jacques Goldman and Mylène Farmer.
- Marc Lavoine, indifferent to the Victoires de la Musique, expressed his disinterest in these awards, judging them “ridiculous” and not essential to his career.
- Another artist admitted not having much interest in the Victoires de la Musique.
If the Grammy Awards are expected every year in the United States, in France, it is the Victoires de la Musique which are there to bring together artists. An annual event that has existed since 1985 and which does not intend to stop there… Over the years, many celebrities have been rewarded, including Jean-Jacques Goldman or Mylène Farmer, who have never stopped to collect Victoires during their career.
While the Victoires de la Musique are a consecration for many artists, there is one among them who has very little interest in them: Marc Lavoine. Indeed, in 2023, the latter had revealed that he did not want to attend this ceremony. “Compared to the small Parisian milieu, I feel like a Portuguese. That's why I don't go to the Victoires de la musique. I even asked that I be removed from the lists. A small group of people who vote among themselves, in their corner, çthat doesn't interest me”, he had revealed.

An opinion that has not changed. This Monday, December 30, in the show Le monde by Elodie broadcast on France Info, Marc Lavoine spoke out again on this subject: “I am not someone who seeks compliments, but when someone likes you, it's better. It's not a reproach at all, but I'm not talking about the Victoires de la musique, all that, the Césars, the Molières. Çit doesn't matter to me.”
“It's certainly nice to have some, but I, I don't like it. I don't like having something that says I'm the best actor or the best singer. It's completely ridiculous. But compliments, not to show off in front of my gold records, while looking at myself in a mirror and thinking I'm an actor or a singer”, he also added.
Another singer does not like the Victoires de la musique
However, Adriana Karembeu's companion has already received numerous awards for his album “Marc Lavoine”, released in 1986, including the Raoul-Breton award from SACEM. Ten years later, his title It's France also wins a response in the video-clip category at the Victoires de la musique.
If Marc Lavoine does not carry the Victoires de la musique in his heart, it is also the case of Matt Pokora. “After a while, I understood that whatever happens, it's not the Victoires de la musique that make a career, it's the public. There are plenty of Victoires de la musique who have won a lot, but who don't have a third of my career. I wouldn't trade the twenty years I've just lived for anything in the world for even five or ten Victoires de la musique”, he declared in Touche pas à mon poste in 2017.
