The trial of the Mazan rapes continued on Friday in Avignon. 50 men are being tried with the victim's former husband, Dominique Pélicot before the criminal court of Vaucluse for having raped Gisèle Pelicot at her home .

The Vaucluse criminal court examined this week the case of the last seven accused in the Mazan rape trial. This tenth week was devoted to these seven men tried for aggravated rape on Gisèle Pelicot. Among them, Charly A.. The accused was only 21 years old when he went to Mazan for the first time, in January 2016. He would go there six times in total, between January 2016 and June 2020, and would be arrested in early 2021, at his mother's home in Carpentras. During the last meeting, Dominique Pelicot asked him with which woman he could do the same thing, and Charly A. answered his mother, the only female person in his entourage, relates 20 minutes.  "Me, I was told that she was pretending to sleep so I think she is pretending to sleep", tried to justify this 30-year-old man. “He (Dominique Pélicot) told me that his wife would be lying down, asleep", he assured.

On two videos, the two men are filmed talking. "And your mother, when do we fuck her ?", asks the victim's ex-husband. “If it's not this weekend, it's the weekend after,” Charly A. replied. The latter swears that he had no intention of doing so. “Mr. Pelicot asks if I can do this to my family or someone I know. I say my mother. Like “this,” he indicated before adding: “My mother, that's the first thing I thought of.”

Pills for his mother

Charly A. sent a photo of his mother to Dominique Pelicot. “Because he's insistent,” he tried to explain. He admitted that the septuagenarian gave him two or three pills and explained to him “how to do it”. But Charly A. assured him that he had thrown them away before returning home. “I expressly confirm that I never gave my mother any medication”, he explained to the judges. The discussions about his mother were a “trigger” for him. He will no longer respond to Dominique Pelicot's requests.
