The Senate added this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, to its agenda for January 15 a bill aimed at extending the use of restaurant vouchers for food shopping at the supermarket. This possibility was suspended by the government's censure.
Extend the use of restaurant vouchers for food shopping at the supermarket. The text has already been adopted by the National Assembly and was to be examined in mid-December in the Senate, before Michel Barnier's government was overthrown.
The bill was placed on the agenda of the upper house this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, for examination on January 15, recalls BFM.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000The agenda remains provisionally established, however, pending the appointment of a government around the new Prime Minister François Bayrou.
The two chambers of Parliament do not agree on the timetable for the measure, underlines BFM. The Assembly voted for an extension until the end of 2026, the Senate for a limit until the end of 2025.
In the meantime, from January 1, 2025, meal vouchers will only be used for restaurants and products that were initially eligible. The system that allows restaurant vouchers to be used to purchase all food products was set up in 2022. It allows some 5.4 million employees in France to use their “restaurant vouchers” to buy products that are not directly consumable (flour, pasta, rice, meat, etc.) on the shelves, whereas they are normally reserved only for directly consumable products in addition to restaurants.
