Mélanie and Sandrine, an inspiring duo

Sandrine et Mélanie, membres du réseau d'affaires BNI à Montpellier.

A GODMOTHER, A GODCHILD Throughout the year, Midi Libre is committed to inspiring women and positive encounters.

A godmother in her thirties and a goddaughter in her late fifties, that's an unusual role reversal! But for Mélanie Carrasco and Sandrine Maugrion, it seems obvious. “I identify with Sandrine's leadership values, she inspires me,” says Mélanie, a dynamic 31-year-old entrepreneur and co-founder of WonderMeufs, an association created in 2016 in Montpellier to support and boost women and their projects in the Occitanie region. She herself has been juggling her role as an independent wealth consultant and trainer for four years. “It's only in the dictionary that the word success comes before the word work,” she says with conviction.

Tired of her former position in mass distribution, she found her way: “My current job has meaning: I contribute to changing lives, ensuring the financial future of families and securing retirees.”

“I'm starting over, I have everything to learn”

It was within the BNI business network that Mélanie crossed paths three months ago with Sandrine, 49, who had just retrained as a professional space designer with her company Treeptik. A career that was reoriented 18 months ago, after raising her four children and notably managing a large mutual insurance company in Gard and Hérault. “People and social progress have always guided my career. I like taking on different challenges, I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur, I just waited for the right moment”.

Enthusiastic and determined, Sandrine is convinced that good organization of workspaces is a lever for performance and management and helps to reconcile employees and managers with work.

The uniqueness of their relationship lies in this reversal of usual roles. “Being Mélanie's goddaughter fills me with joy. As an entrepreneur, I'm starting over. I have everything to learn,” smiles Sandrine. And Mélanie admires the wisdom and experience of her atypical goddaughter. Both, with their strong complicity, strive to promote the place of women in entrepreneurship and beyond.
