By scoring a brace and being active throughout the match, Alexis Bernadet put in a successful performance against the Johannesburg Lions (28-5) this Saturday, January 11.  

Olé! Alexis Bernadet got the GGL on its feet like a bullfighter gets the crowd going in an arena. The Montpellier scrum-half, a bullfighting enthusiast, put in a masterful performance against the Lions, allowing the MHR to validate its ticket for the round of 16 of the Challenge. With a brace, the Dax native showed the way in a match won over time, through attrition, and concluded with endless actions that we were no longer used to seeing around here.

From the point of view of the average spectator, this poster of the third day of Challenge was probably not the most attractive. A good thing is that Bernadet has a good head. At the end of the year, he'll get his engineering degree from INSA Toulouse, which he's working on alongside his career. “While some people will be playing coinche. I'll go and work a bit”, he smiles. “It's a project that's close to my heart. I like it a lot, it keeps me busy. But I prefer rugby, eh.”

This Vincent Clerc fan blended into the Montpellier locker room in no time. His performances helped, of course, but so did his good nature. His Landes origins automatically brought him closer to players like Anthony Bouthier, Julien Tisseron and Nicolas Martins, with whom he played at Castanet, near Toulouse.

The staff can sleep easy. In the absence of the two number 1s, Bernadet showed that he could handle the scrum.
