Striker Arnaud Nordin, injured in the ankle, cut short training on Wednesday, January 15, two days before the reception of Monaco at the Stade de la Mosson, against whom the coach wants to lead the revolt.

In the middle of a storm, everyone is on deck. Or almost. Before facing Monaco on Friday (7 p.m.) at La Mosson, opening the 18th day less than a week after the painful defeat against Angers, Jean-Louis Gasset has found almost all the strength of his squad.

Striker Arnaud Nordin, injured in the right ankle, remains uncertain after having participated in part of the morning session on Wednesday. “He is uncertain. He took a test this morning, but he had a hold. He preferred to stop and get treatment. We will see tomorrow. And, Maamma has been back in training for two days,” explained the Montpellier coach. The former Stéphanois striker is feeling the after-effects of a sprained right ankle sustained about two weeks ago in training.

Mincarelli injured in an ankle

Conversely, the young Franco-Moroccan striker Othmane Maamma (19 years old), recovered from a series of muscle injuries to a thigh, is preparing to rejoin the squad. “If he returns to the group, he is fit to play,” assured Gasset. The young winger, with a wildcard profile, had launched his career in the Ligue 1 on May 12 against Monaco, making a stunning entrance, before scoring his first goal the following week in Lens. Since then, he has only played three parts of matches.

In addition to Nordin's uncertain fate, the Montpellier coach will be without defender Kiki Kouyaté and midfielder Jordan Ferri, who were sent off on Sunday against Angers and are therefore suspended. Young left-back Lucas Mincarelli, who has an ankle injury, and Christopher Jullien (knee) are convalescing.

Treat the heads

While the physical condition is improving, the heads still need to be treated after the disappointment against Angers. “I said it was practically impossible because I was in shock on Sunday. You recover from a lot of things in life. There's half a championship left. When you're playing for the future of a lot of people, you don't have the right to give up. I have to lead this revolt”, promises the Montpellier coach. A revolt in the middle of a storm
