Au MHSC, Tamari aura disputé 43 matches pour 7 buts inscrits depuis l’été 2023. Midi Libre – JEAN-MICHEL MART
As expected, the Jordanian winger from La Paillade signed with the Breton club on Monday, February 3, on the last day of the transfer window. While Montpellier could give up other players and is expecting some.
The suspense was no longer one. As expected since Saturday, Montpellier winger Mousa Tamari officially signed with Stade Rennais on Monday, the Breton club announced on its social networks. This departure should confirm the fact that Tanguy Coulibaly will remain in Hérault despite requests, we were informed at the club.
Tamari, who arrived on a free transfer at MHSC Louvain in the summer of 2023, is said to have signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Rennes. The transfer could bring in nearly €8 million to the Hérault club.
In the middle of last week, Tamari was reportedly not particularly keen on the idea of joining the Breton club. Already assured of not being in Europe next season, Rennes is also entangled in a complicated championship, where it is trying not to be relegated, and three coaches (Stephan, Sampaoli and Beye) have succeeded one another at the bedside of the current 15th in L1.
Absent from training in Grammont on Monday morning, Tamari ended up agreeing to be the sixth recruit of the winter (Seko Fofana, Brice Samba, Lilian Brassier, Kyogo Furuhashi and Anthony Rouault) and to succeed Amine Gouiri, who left for OM, in the Breton attack.
The Jordanian winger has therefore closed the Montpellier chapter after a year and a half and 43 matches in the colours of the Pailladines (7 goals, 5 assists). Author of a dazzling start, including a double on the pitch of Lyon (1-4) in his second match in August 2023, Tamari then had a long lull in club football. The adventure up to the final of the Asian Cup with his selection, punctuated by a shoulder injury, had not helped his performance.
But the arrival of Jean-Louis Gasset, at the end of October, gave new bite to this player capable of repeating the efforts and the high-intensity races. His double against Monaco and his decisive performance in Toulouse, before the relapse in Lens, had confirmed his importance in the fight for survival. Montpellier, in huge need of finances, will have to learn to cope without Tamari, the third departure of the winter, after Akor Adams (Seville FC) and Arnaud Nordin (Mainz).
