Despite the fears that could have accompanied it, the Montpellier club passed the obstacle of the financial policeman without a hitch, this Tuesday, December 10.

“The National Directorate of Control and Management has decreed a “absence of measure” against the MHSC”, wrote the club in a press release published on its social networks at 7:50 p.m.
“We brought what we had to bring. We support the club so that it does as well as possible and we are committed to that”, confided the president Laurent Nicollin.
Although he did not wish to specify what commitments had been made by the MHSC and its sole shareholder – the Nicollin Group – to the financial police, the Pailladin boss welcomed this decision. It rules out the worst-case scenarios, especially that of relegation as a precautionary measure, a sanction recently received by Olympique Lyonnais (L1), Martigues, Bastia (L2) and Châteauroux (N1).

“We are standing together with my brother (Olivier)“, affirmed Laurent Nicollin without refuting a complicated financial situation, notably due to the drop in TV rights at the start of the season. “(This verdict) proves that we have met the expectations of the DNCG”, he added.
Without any restrictive measures against it, on the payroll or recruitment, the Montpellier club will be able to consider moves in the winter transfer window. But it will probably have to part with one or more players to recruit. With the hope, in the end, of launching a rebound on the pitches where it will try to avoid sporting relegation. The administrative aspect is no longer on the agenda.
