The room for maneuver is narrow for MHSC, bottom of Ligue 1, a few days before the opening of the winter transfer window.
“We are looking to strengthen the team, absolutely”, projects the president Laurent Nicollin. Montpellier is not going to pay the money, which it does not have, but since the beginning of the week, it has been working to advance on the winter transfer window (January 1 – February 3).
With a narrow margin of maneuver. Certainly, the Ligue 1 bottom team has obtained the approval of the DNCG, the financial policeman, but coach Jean-Louis Gasset repeated it last week: “There will be arrivals if there are departures. Anything can happen”.

The young striker (21 years old) appeals to some Hérault players, but this prospect surprises, even amuses Laurent Nicollin. “If OM takes care of his salary and lends him to us, and if he wants to spend six months with us… But, I don't know”, he smiles.
In any case, Marseille president Pablo Longoria cut short this lead on Wednesday during a press conference. OM does not want to part with him and the center forward trained in Montpellier does not intend to leave this winter.
With about ten days to go before the transfer window opens, Montpellier has not received an offer for midfielder Joris Chotard, nor for striker Mousa Tamari, who has returned to his best level since Jean-Louis Gasset was appointed coach.
“We have had an official offer for a player who does not want to go there. It is neither for Chotard nor for Tamari. Joris would have liked to leave this summer, but he does not mind staying at his training club because he feels good there. If he has to leave, and bring in money, that's ok, but I have no offer for the moment”, explains the Montpellier president.
Hostile last winter to a departure, the Olympic vice-champion (23 years old), tied until June 2026, is not closing the door either. Sunday at the end of the draw against Nice (2-2), he openly positioned himself: “If this were to be my last match at La Mosson, I would be happy to finish like that”, slipped one of the two Montpellier scorers of the match.
Another issue: the future of Arnaud Nordin. The former Saint-Étienne striker (26 years old) will be free next June. If the two parties remain in contact, nothing is changing.
