Robert Badinter, Alexeï Navalny… These political figures who died in 2024
- Robert Badinter (1928-2024): The great lawyer and former Minister of Justice breathed his last the age of 95 years on February 9, 2024. He is responsible for the abolition of the death penalty in France in 1981.
- Alexeï Navalny (1976-2024): The most fervent and media-friendly opponent of Vladimir Putin died in an Arctic prison, where he was serving a long sentence, on February 16, 2024. He was 47 years old and the official causes of his death are questionable.
Françoise Hardy and Anouk Aimée, two French icons have left us
- Françoise Hardy (1944-2024) : The yéyé icon died on June 11, 2024, as announced by her son Thomas in a heartbreaking Instagram post. She had been battling cancer that had made her life hell for several years.
- Anouk Aimée (1932-2024): The immense French actress died at the age of 92 yearsJune 18, 2024. Julien Duvivier, Federico Fellini, Claude Lelouch, Jacques Demy… She had worked under the direction of the greatest directors and left an unforgettable memory with the film A Man and a Woman. It was her daughter Manuella Papatakis who announced his death without specifying the causes.
2024: a dark year for the small and big screen
- David Soul (1943-2024): Icon of the 70s and 80s, the unforgettable Hutch in Starsky and Hutch died on January 4, 2024 at the age of 80 years.
- Christian Oliver (1972-2024) : The German actor, best known for his role in the series Alerte Cobra, died alongside his daughters10 and 12 years old in the terrible crash of a small tourist plane on January 4, 2024. He was 51 years old.
- Sylvain Augier (1955-2024): The host of the France 3 flagship shows La Carte aux tésors and Faut pas rêver died on March 16, 2024 at following a heart attack at the age of 68 years.
- Bernard Pivot (1935-2024) : The presenter and éwriter Bernard Pivot died on May 6, 2024 at the age of 89 years following cancer. He had made his two literary broadcasts Apostrophes and Bouillon de culturehuge audience successes and had given millions of French people a taste for reading.
- Glynis Johns (1923-2024): Famous for having played the role of the mother in Mary Poppins, the actress died at 100 years old on January 4, 2024. She was the dean of Hollywood cinema.
- Laurence Badie (1928-2024): Actress with an impressive career in theater, cinema, television and dubbing, she died on January 11, 2024 at the age of 96 years old. She was notably the French voice of Véra in Scooby-Doo.
- Micheline Presle (1922-2024): The unforgettable and impertinent actress died at 101 years old on February 21, 2024. Le Diable au corps, Peau d'âne, Vénus Beauté Institut… She leaves behind an impressive filmography.
- Géraldine Carré (1969-2024) : The journalist and former host of the shows Confessions intimes and Ça peut vous arriver on TF1 died at the age of 54 years old on May 3, 2024. She leaves behind four children. The causes of her death have not been revealed.
These sports legends died in 2024
- René Metge (1941-2024): Former racing driver René Metge died on January 3, 2024 at the age of 82. He had won the Paris-Dakar three times and participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans six times.
- OJ Simpson (1947-2024) : The legendary American football player died at 76 years old on April 11, 2024 from cancer. In addition to his sporting exploits, he was also infamous for being the suspect number one in the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown, of which he was acquitted during a lengthy trial in 1994.
- Franz Beckenbauer (1945-2024): The Legendary German football player (and manager) died on January 7, 2024 at the age of 78 years.

- Frédéric Mitterrand (1947-2024): The former Minister of Culture, also nephew of François Mitterrand, lost his fight against cancer March 21, 2024 at the age of 76 years old.
- Victor Emmanuel of Savoy (1937-2024) : Son of the last king of Italy, the prince died on February 3, 2024, a few days before his 87th birthday. He was notably the father of Emmanuel-Philibert of Savoy, currently married to Clotilde Courau.
- Paul Auster (1947-2024) : TheéNew York writer with multiple film adaptations died on April 30, 2024 from cancer. He was 77 years old and leaves behind an inconsolable widow who had documented in the last months of his life his difficult and relentless fight against illness.
- Claude Montana (1947-2024) : The star designer of the house of Lanvin in the 80s died on February 23, 2024. He was 76 years old. He had experienced many reversals of fortune that had éeclipsedé podiums.
- Anaïs Robin (2002-2024) : The singer died at the age of 21 in a car accident near Lille on March 23, 2024.
