The man suspected of shooting the Grenoble municipal employee is still wanted, but he has been identified by the police. The suspect opened fire while fleeing after a road accident.
The suspect is still on the run. Two days after the death of Lilian Dejean, the Grenoble municipal agent who died while trying to stop the perpetrator of a road accident, the man suspected of shooting the 49-year-old agent remains actively sought. While he continues to flee, he has been identified as announced by the Grenoble public prosecutor on Monday, September 9. "The man is known to the courts for various offenses" including "theft, violence and drug trafficking" he said. A source close to the case added to BFMTV that the suspect is 25 years old.

Information on the suspect's profile remains scarce. It simply seems to be proven that the man is not the owner of the crashed car, an Audi RS3, a powerful saloon model registered in Poland. The vehicle is believed to be a rental. The search continues to find the suspect and “four searches were carried out yesterday (Sunday) and today (Monday) in places where he is likely to live,” the Grenoble prosecutor said. One of them took place in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, in the presence of the Raid, according to Le Dauphiné liberé .
What happened Sunday morning in Grenoble ?
Sunday morning, around 7:15, it all started with a road accident on Boulevard Jean Pain in Grenoble, involving two light vehicles, including an Audi RD3 “with a Polish registration plate”. It is said to have hit the other car, a Peugeot 2008, which was waiting at the red light. Seeing the accident, a passer-by quickly came to the aid of the victims while the municipal agent, Lilian Dejean, who was approaching the scene, tried to to block the Audi driver who was trying to flee.
It was then that the individual allegedly pulled out a weapon and twice shot the employee of the city's “urban cleaning service on duty in the public space” at the time of the incident, as Grenoble Mayor Eric Piolle has since revealed. Shot in the chest, Lilian Dejean died hours later from his injuries. His death was announced by the prosecutor early Sunday afternoon.
