Murder charges in connection with Regent Park shooting

A 23-year-old Toronto man faces two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the Regent Park shooting that left two people dead.

< p class="StyledBodyHtmlParagraph-sc-48221190-4 hnvfyV">Benedict Johnson Kongolo was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning. No other suspects are being sought, police say. Police said Tuesday evening that the suspect and victims were related.

According to Toronto police, a person was found dead near the intersection of Dundas Street East and Parliament Street.

Two other victims – a man and a woman – were found at a residence on Arnold Avenue with gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital, where the man died from his injuries.

Benedict Johnson Kongolo was arrested near the intersection of Dundas Street East and Sackville Street, after a foot chase in which two officers were injured, the& #x27;one on the arm and the other on the leg. These are not critical injuries. A weapon was also seized.
