The new president is far from being unknown since she has already taken on responsibilities within this association whose mission is to train its members in taking responsibility and civic engagement. Murielle Merger, 31, was secretary of the JCE béterroise for two years, and active on various commissions in recent years (the “Repas dans le noir”, the bodéga de la Feria, etc.). “The title of my program for the year is “Alegria”, since I want to bring joy and kindness to the members.”

During her 2025 term, she will be surrounded by Valentine Palomino, the secretary, Sarah Collado, the treasurer and Marion Piedras, the past-president and vice-president of partnerships.

Training

“Training through action is a major tool for developing the individual skills of our members which will be essential to the success of local problem solving.”

The next major event of the JCE Béziers, and the first for Murielle Merger as president, will be the back-to-school university (UDR) organized on the weekend from February 14 to 16 at the IUT. This is a weekend during which training courses are organized, intended for local members and those from the region (Montpellier, Sète, Bassin de Thau, etc.), with the last evening at the municipal theater of Béziers.

The association will also offer internal training courses throughout the year to acquire new skills “and allow members to become agents of change”.

“We also plan to launch our partners club. The one with the IUT, for example, is taking shape. They support the JCE in organizing its training courses, debates and events. In exchange, our actions give visibility to partners.”
