It's been a few years now that the TikTok app has invaded our daily lives. Since its launch (or almost), the Chinese platform has been the subject of controversy, with numerous challenges that are sometimes stupid, sometimes dangerous (and often both at the same time), but also advertisements containing false and erroneous statements, so much so that some American states have recently decided to go on the offensive, accusing the platform of knowingly designing an addictive product to the detriment of the mental health of young people.
In Canada, ByteDance's app is also making headlines, with the government already banning TikTok from federal mobile devices. Many governments are questioning the company's ties to the Chinese government. After a warning from Justin Trudeau last May, the government recently took a new drastic decision.
“Following a national security review process […], the Canadian government has ordered the liquidation of the Canadian company operated by TikTok Technology Canada” local authorities indicate. TikTok will therefore have to close its offices in Toronto and Vancouver, with the government going so far as to cite specific “risks to national security“.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000Note that this does not mean a ban on the app itself, which remains available, with TikTok Technology Canada Inc. primarily handling sales and marketing operations. The government is, however, encouraging Canadians to exercise caution when using TikTok, even though the decision to use a particular app is a purely personal one.

For its part, ByteDance was keen to react, confirming its desire to challenge this decision in court. “Closing TikTok's Canadian offices and destroying hundreds of well-paying local jobs is not in the no one's interest” claims the Chinese company. In the United States, TikTok is also accused of spying and manipulating American citizens, which the company behind TikTok strongly denies.
Finally, let us recall to conclude that in 2024, some couples who divorce are now fighting for custody of the children, the house, the pet, the raclette machine, etc. and the TikTok account.
