Nearly 150,000 visitors were recorded last year at the Musée de la Romanité in Nîmes, an increase of 19% compared to 2023. This is the second best year in terms of annual attendance after 2019. “The Musée de la Romanité has become a must-see for discovering Nîmes”, says Sophie Roulle, deputy for culture and president of the SPL Culture et Patrimoine, who is delighted with these figures in a press release.

She underlines “the renewed attraction of visitors to the city's ancient heritage, as well as the important work of scientific development, cultural programming, communication and marketing carried out by all the teams”. One in five visitors comes from abroad, proof that the museum enjoys a fine international reputation, also boosted by the inclusion of the Maison Carrée on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

1,230 groups welcomed

The good figures are also the result of the success of the temporary exhibition “Achilles and the Trojan War”. The management communicates its detailed report as follows: 1,230 groups welcomed (833 schools), 139 privatizations of spaces, 48 events, 474 departures of guided tours and activities in the collections, + 27% turnover at the bookstore-boutique compared to 2023, 10,000 subscribers on Instagram and more than 135,000 visits to the website.
