Presented at the immediate appearance hearing, the author of the stabbing requested a delay to prepare his defense. His trial was postponed until February 7. In the meantime, he was imprisoned.

Unfavorably known to the justice system, a 40-year-old man from Castelnau-sur-Mer recently appeared before the Montpellier judicial court for violence with the use of a weapon followed by insults against persons in authority.

On Monday, December 2, around 4 p.m., in Castelnau-le-Lez, he verbally and then physically attacked his neighbor while he was walking his dog.

Wounded in the side

The tone quickly rose and the accused then took out a knife and struck his rival, who defended himself with his hockey stick that he was using to throw a ball at his dog.

Seriously wounded in the side, under the left shoulder, the victim collapsed to the ground. Taken care of by the firefighters and emergency workers from Samu 34, she was evacuated to the Lapeyronie hospital center, with a non-threatening prognosis.

Latent dispute

Fleeing towards the tram, the stabber was arrested a few minutes later by municipal police officers at a tram stop. Handed over to the gendarmes of the Castelnau-le-Lez company, he was immediately taken into custody, where he admitted the facts and claimed a latent neighborhood dispute.

A dispute for which he had already been taken into custody last October following death threats made against the same neighbor.

He spits in the face of a police officer

It should be noted that on the evening of December 2, he took out his anger on the police officers while they were serving him his meal. Suddenly, he insulted them and then stood up and spat on one of them in the face. Restrained with some difficulty, he uttered death threats and then grabbed his plate and threw it across the room.

These facts he did not want to return to in court, preferring to ask for more time to prepare his defense. The presidency took note and adjourned the trial until February 7. In the meantime, he was placed in pretrial detention and will have to undergo a psychiatric assessment.
