It was a highly requested feature that was absent until today, but Netflix has just announced it: it is now possible to take a screenshot of series or films on the platform. Netflix users on their phones know that taking a screenshot of a Netflix series or movie is impossible. If you happen to try to do so out of curiosity, you will get a white or black screen that ruins your attempt. This feature, long decried by Internet users, was a way for the platform to prevent the sharing of images protected by copyright. The platform recently announced that this feature, which is not very popular with the general public, is set to disappear. With its new feature called “Moments”, Netflix intends to satisfy its users and make a significant step forward compared to its competitors. The principle is simple: it will now be possible to save your favorite scene by tapping on the screen and clicking on the logo at the bottom left of the phone, “Moments”. Once the scene is saved, you are free to watch it again as much as you want and enjoy this special moment. Each clip will automatically be stored in the “My Netflix” tab and will be titled with the name of the program watched, the episode number and the precise timecode. Releasing this highly anticipated feature today is a well-thought-out strategy by Netflix. With the return of big titles like Squid Game at the end of 2024, the streaming giant intends to bring together as many of its subscribers as possible for a more enjoyable experience. Barely released, “Moments” is likely to see new additions in the future, according to Netflix staff themselves. A way for the company to promise its subscribers better viewing sessions in the future.
