New twist in the “Doualemn” case: the Algerian influencer remains in detention, his lawyers will appeal

This Sunday, February 2, 2025, the courts decided that Algerian influencer Doualemn will remain in a detention center and will therefore not be released.

The decision was expected today. The judge of liberties and detention decided, this Sunday, to keep the Algerian influencer “Doualemn” in detention at the CRA of Mesnil-Amelot (Seine-et-Marne), indicates TF1 info. The detention of the 59-year-old man was extended by 26 days.

A confused and shocked man

The lawyers of the influencer based in Montpellier assured that they would appeal this decision before the Paris court. They point the finger at “their client's health”, reports BFMTV. He would be “confused, shocked by this decision”.

As a reminder, “Doualemn” is suspected of inciting violence and was arrested by law enforcement several weeks ago. What followed was a long legal saga that continues to this day. The Algerian influencer, in the sights of Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, was expelled but Algeria refused him at the airport. A few hours later, the man known on social networks was back in Paris.

This week, the court “refuses to suspend the withdrawal of the residence permit issued by the Minister of the Interior” she writes because of a “call for violence against an Algerian opponent” which justifies it, “because the facts alleged represent a serious threat to public order.”

But on the other hand, the administrative authority suspends the expulsion of the influencer because the “absolute urgency” to send him back to Algeria is not established.

Tensions between France and Algeria

The investigation conducted by the Montpellier prosecutor's office concluded that in these videos – which are questionable due to the translation – Doualemn called for an attack on an Algerian, who, according to our information, is an opponent of the Algiers regime.

For this, he will be tried on February 24 by the judicial court for “public provocation to commit a crime or an offense”, which he denies. This case comes at a time when relations between Paris and Algiers are tense.
