Nîmes Olympique: away, it’s still a struggle

By scoring twelve minutes from the end, Abeljelil and the Crocos thought they had done the hardest part. Midi Libre Archives – Mikaël Anisset

The first away win will have to wait. Pushed around in the first half, Friday December 13th at Paris 13 Atletico, the Crocos woke up in the second half, controlled the debates, scored but they were unable to put the nail in the coffin and were caught at the end.

They definitely can't do it! Dominated in the first, greatly dominating in the second, Nîmes Olympique, who was punished and taken back in the last minutes, let slip their first away win of the season on Friday, December 13 in Paris. Same words, same problems: the Crocodiles have once again wasted too much offensively to hope for better than this sixth draw.

The 15th day and the National ranking

Five big first minutes and that's it

At the break, Nîmes were trailing on points. They had started off with a bang with a left-footed shot from Mexico (2nd) and, at the edge of the area, a nice curling shot from Abdeljelil, deflected by Sanou (4th).

Five good minutes and that was it, with this beautiful service from Picouleau for Labonne, in space, and this center that Camara, alone in front of the cages, had not managed to take back, disturbed by the desperate tackle of Sylla, just in front of him (32nd).

Nîmes in pain

The rest of the time, it was Paris 13 who had made the game and dominated, as evidenced by the four corners obtained at the break (0 for Nîmes). The marking was lax, the defense tended to retreat too much and on the right side, Nangis never stopped hitting, which prompted Adil Hermach, after 25 minutes, to abandon his 4-4-2 diamond formation to return to 4-2-3-1.

Nîmes suffered and could breathe: Diakhabi's shot, which started well, was blocked in passing (13th); Nangis, on yet another ball back, missed his control (15th), Keita shot over (21st) and, in added time, Ngapandouetnbu relaxed to deflect Nangis' shot (45th + 3).

More enthusiasm and intentions in the second

There was much more enthusiasm in the restart, much more intentions and control. Camara was blocked (49th), Abdljelil was unable to put the ball away (50th) and Marcel's left-footed attempt flew towards the ring road (58th). Not enough to score.

Camara's huge miss

The Nîmes steamroller was still in motion. Even though Karamoko put Ngapandouetnbu to work (61st), Paris 13 was no longer coming out, was cornered. After a sharp breakthrough by Marcel, Nîmes had a huge chance of scoring but Camara's flat foot, served on a platter, was right on Sanou (72nd).

Abdeljelil, what a sequence!

This second period was more rhythmic and lively, and Nîmes had something to do with it. On a cross from Bouaoune, Abdeljelil controlled, got up the ball and his shot on the pivot, deflected by Diarra, hit the target (0-1, 78th). Finally!

Victory escaped the Crocos because Mendy conceded a penalty, converted by Hachem (1-1, 87th) and Sbaï's final attempt was too crossed (90th + 2). Away, it's always stuck.
