In 2009 at the Rock en Seine festival, a violent argument caused the separation of the Oasis Group, which today announced that it is ready to reform for a series of concerts.
While he had given his fans an appointment this Tuesday, August 27, Oasis made a big announcement on X. Separated since 2009, the main members of the group will reunite for a series of concerts. Noel Gallagher, guitarist and composer, and his brother Liam, singer, will perform next summer in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The tour will begin on July 4, 2025 at Cardiff and will end on August 17 in Dublin. Tickets go on sale from this Saturday, August 31.
The tour could then continue: “preparations are underway to take “Oasis Live “25” to other continents later next year,” the band's official website reveals. The announcement comes on the thirtieth anniversary of the album Definitely Maybe that launched the band.
It's been fifteen years since the band broke up. On Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, the siblings had exploded. The brothers allegedly insulted each other and even fought in the dressing room. Liam allegedly broke his brother's guitar, the last straw that prompted Noel to leave, unable to put on a show. Shortly after this scene, Noel announced that he was leaving the band on his official website: “It is with some sadness and great relief that I tell you that I am leaving Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they want, but there is no way I can continue working with Liam for one more day.”
At a press conference in 2011, Noel Gallagher claimed that the row started after Liam demanded that an advert for his clothing line Pretty Green be included in their tour, which Noel reportedly refused. Tensions had been high since before and that night was the straw that broke the camel's back. In an interview with The Telegraph in 2019, Liam said the group didn't last because his brother wanted to be the only one be able to write the songs.
The brothers had then released albums each on their own, but the success of which has never matched that of Oasis. After repeated barbs on social networks for years, their relationship seems to have calmed down. The idea of a reunion was even floated by Liam back in 2017 and it is finally starting to come to fruition. “Noel and Liam will never be best friends, but they want to bring Oasis back for the fans. They are not getting any younger and the demand is huge. They have decided it is now or never.” , a assuredé a source close to the group at Sun.
