Omar Sy: “We would think we were…”, this room unlike any other in his splendid house in Los Angeles

In his autobiography Viens, on se parle, co-written with journalist Elsa Vigoureux, Omar Sy reveals some details about his personal life and the place where he lives with his family.

After the release of the iconic film The Intouchables, Omar Sy was awarded the César for Best Actor in 2012. Since then, his career has taken off. Faced with such notoriety, the young actor decided to leave France to isolate himself on the other side of the ocean, in Los Angeles, still alongside his wife Hélène.

Last April, Omar Sy published his autobiography, entitled Come on, let's talk and éwritten with the help of the journalist Elsa Vigoureux. Throughout the pages, the reader can enter the intimacy of the actor, discover some personal confidences, but also imagine the place where he lives.

Omar Sy: “a small living museum”

When Elsa Vigoureux went to his home to write the pages of this work, she was particularly struck by one of the rooms in his home: his office. A place “large, bright” located “in the corridor, on the left”.  “It feels like we're in a small living museum, we look everywhere without daring to touch anything“, she wrote.

“Behind Omar Sy's work table, there is the 'Nemo' armchair from the Lupin series, large, wide and black, which represents a mask in the shape of a face. On the black shelves, the books of Maurice Leblanc, the inventor of'Arsène Lupin, stand upright. The golden plaque of Doctor Knock is enthroned high up, against a wall, in a sort of snub to reality. Bakary's knife is placed discreetly on a ledge, like a worn-out remnant that will soon be by rust a memory of fiction, as much as a real piece of history”, she specifies.

Many winks to her career in the 7th art… But not only that. We can also find clues to her passions. “In the back of the office, two football jerseys are hung under glass on the black brick wall, above the bar: Pelé's, signed of his hand, and that of the French team flanked of two stars, with the ticket for the France-Croatia match attached under the window“, she reveals in the autobiography.

In his office, Omar Sy also highlights his family, with “black and white photos of Hélène and the children”. “On the mantelpiece are six glass bottles of Coca-Cola arranged in a line, all personalized with the names of the family members, in this order: Omar, Selly, Sabah, Tidiane, Alijah, Hélène”, can we éalso read.
